  1. Thank you, Tom. I really appreciate it. Was planning to leave the second one out at first. What style of music do you think my voice would be best for? I'm a lyricist and I'm looking for composers and would love to start my own bad, that's why. The thing is: when I sing in a lower range, I feel comfortable, but then indeed I often get to hear: let's take it higher: Let me see if I can find some other homevideos ;-)
  2. I studied theatre. I had some singing lessons over there, but it was more like: singing a song without getting any feedback. Took some private singing lessons afterwards, but the same story.... So I decided to post some home video over here ( realize this is just some random unprepared karaoke stuff, though it could tell "something":
  3. there's more than ten years in between.
  4. How would you rate this performance? It's a friend of mine singing:
  5. I'd like to learn how to play the guitar but can't afford any private lessons, already invest in singing lessons which is still my priority but I'd love how to learn to play the guitar, so I'm looking for a good affordable guitar ( any brands in specific?) and a good online course. How long does it take to learn to play it properly?
  6. I see you like 80's music. I love Cindy Lauper's "all through the night"

  7. Lisa, thank you so much for your comment, it's really been a great help. Been visiting your blog and thought it was very inspired and fascinating. Steff
  8. the truth is I've been stuck with a young teacher. She owns a school but spends half of the time in the bathroom or making private phonecalls. Before taking lessons, she wants you to sign a contract and pay for at least a semester. when you're seriously ill or lose your voice, you lose the money. Just to tell you what my teacher's intentions are. I never learnt anything about technique. So all improvements are thanks to practicing a lot. I sing a song, she plays the piano and says: that's good, other song plz. She tried to get me into jazz, but that's definitely not my cup of tea. You see the thing is: I wanna be really good and I hope and believe that I have the potential to actually get to that point. But if my next teacher would act the way the former one did, I'll kick him or her out immediately. Thanks for the warm up video! Finally something that's really supposed to work :-)
  9. yeah I'd love to write a song together... I write lyrics and I sing. If you wanna hear me sing:

  10. Hi, I've been taking singing lessons although I never got feedback from my singing teacher ( bad teacher I know, for some it's only about the money) But I'm gonna post some live recordings ( recorded with a mobile phone so don't expect good quality, didnt use earplugs so sometimes it could sound like I scream a bit) but I really want to keep improving and was wondering if you have any tips.
  11. hey, do you want to write a song together? i play guitar and sing...

  12. Thanks again, Rex! I guess the next thing for me to do, is finding good composers. Any tips on how to find them?
  13. Thank you very much! what a helpful comment. I've already been approached by people wanting to work my lyrics for a fee but when I replied that I'm only interested in sharing rights, I got a big fat NO back. They're also active on this forum, didn't know it was allowed. If a composer really likes my lyrics and also believes that his work is good, he or she has no problem when it comes to sharing rights, is that correct?
  14. I have written about 400 lyrics over the yrs but haven't done anything with them so far which I would like to change of course. I registered and protected them but now I want to use some of my work for myself and some for others. I just don't know how to start. First: what do you have to do when giving your lyrics to other artists, record companies,....( is there a good way to offer and promote your stuff to people?) what if you find someone who wants to work your lyrics and put it into a song, how do you share the rights? Is it normal that people offer me to pay them to compose my lyrics and also get the rights afterwards? Is the law different in different countries? Thanks a lot
