About This Club

A club for those who use Cakewalk by BandLab. (Digital Audio Workstation)
  1. What's new in this club
  2. Hmmm. NOt a lot appears to be happening in here! Which is a shame. Cakewalk is a fantastic DAW. I have used cakewalk since version 3 I think? It took a leap of faith for me to go from Sonar producer 3 to Bandlabs Cakewalk, but I'm glad I did. It's a fantastic piece of software and it's FREE! The backing track for my (our) latest release is all produced in Cakewalk. Vocals added in the the studio at Jamtrack records, Torquay.
  3. I used Cakewalk for a long time. Loved it. Then it looked like it would be discontinued, so I tried Studio One. I did install the current version but haven’t really explored it. One thing I used to love, was CAL. Cakewalk Application Language. I don’t know if it is still supported. It allowed you to interact with all aspects of the interface using programming language. I am sure it is useful for many things, but as a regular electronic composer it was great. More than that, no other interface offered an equivalent. As a DAW, I always found it pretty intuitive to use.
  4. You can start practicing with little mini covers for your Instagram account or something like that. This allows for you to have an opportunity to make yourself sit and experiment/record with the DAW. As for the songs, don't lose your spirits @Stewart Schmidt, the idea is to keep writing regardless of goal. Some songs get finished, some never make it to the finish line. Some turn our to be not upto your mark even though you finished it, some songs may be the real star of the show. Regardless and in abidance with each of those outcomes, it is important for you to get into the habit of expressing yourself through words & melodies anyways. Just keep writing! Come to think of it, I could never think of songwriting as an activity, it was always more of a practice. Not to go all religious here! lol (Only because I do not follow the idea myself, not that I've much problem with it) Anyways, welcome aboard!
  5. This is the (un)official home for all things Cakewalk - a beautifully designed & very powerful Digital Audio Workstation for Windows-based computer systems. This smackin' piece of industry standard software thrived in the past as Cakewalk SONAR. It is now provided as a free download(!!) by the good people at BandLab who currently own & maintain the legacy. .embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; } If you haven't heard of Cakewalk, then walk on here & probably download it too if you'd like to give it a try: https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk Looking for tutorials to begin your Cakewalk journey? : https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001718054 Have any queries, questions or experiences to share?
