  2. How's that Jim?

That's like saying if you don't get put in a famous gallery then painting is a waste. People love to do things that lets them express feelings and emotions without necessarily making cash from it. If you get a publisher and or get signed up, then surely that would be the icing on the cake :-)

    Chris, wtf audio

  3. I find that its good to be nervous about performing in front of people. You need to remember that the majority of people who are watching would never have the guts to do it.Start off in a friendly place like a party or singing along with someone else, when you are ready to move on try a local jam night, most musicians at jam nights are really interested in new people and will go out of their way to help you out.

    Hope this helps.

Like Tom says do it again and again :-)

  4. I think there are good and bad producer's much the same as good and bad songwriter's. If the only thing that people want is a sure fire hit they get a formulated team with that kind of experience to write and produce the song.

This isn't a new thing motown and others before that used to do the same thing and before bands like the Beatles it was common place. Unfortunately songwriter's don't write songs for songwriter's and the general public on the whole don't care about how the song arrived they just want to sing it for a bit and move on.

  5. I write most of my melodies while at work doing my day job, screen printing allows me to come up with song ideas quite easily, then i note those on my phone on ever note then when i get home i record them roughly into my DAW. The lyrics are initially just padding for the melody but sometimes I come up with workable ones straight away. I find that trying to force the creative process never works for me. Ig it's too hard/not working for the writer then it won't work for the listener. So i would probably say melodies first :-)

  6. I use reason 6 and have been using reason since version one i used to use it in conjunction with Cubase but since reason record came out i find that using reason with record iscan ideal way to get my ideas down and tweak them to get them how i want them. Also i use an external sound card and a variety of mics, guitar and bass, currently testing the beta version of reason seven and with the added midi out im looking forward to hooking up some synths :-)
