  1. i usually write my songs while at work, doing the tasks that are mundane and time consuming i have an idea of story but it usually depends on the melody i am singing , i have no idea how i get it to be a song it just seems to happen or not.
  2. you have a good voice but you just need to slow down with the delivery, consider the timing don't d extend the notes so far its far easier to sing bursts of vocal than extended notes.

  7. How's that Jim? That's like saying if you don't get put in a famous gallery then painting is a waste. People love to do things that lets them express feelings and emotions without necessarily making cash from it. If you get a publisher and or get signed up, then surely that would be the icing on the cake :-) Chris, wtf audio
  8. Cheers, Tom will give this a go :-)
  9. Not sure where to post this but i have been recording music for years but have never done any videos or anything for YouTube etc. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any software i could use to make videos? Any help would be great thanks in advance :-) Chris, wtf audio http://m.soundcloud.com/wtfaudio
  10. All the time i find that if you do just following the melody and making sure you nail the chorus works. The worse thing is most of my band don't notice :-)
  11. I find that its good to be nervous about performing in front of people. You need to remember that the majority of people who are watching would never have the guts to do it.Start off in a friendly place like a party or singing along with someone else, when you are ready to move on try a local jam night, most musicians at jam nights are really interested in new people and will go out of their way to help you out. Hope this helps. Like Tom says do it again and again :-)
  12. Lou Reed -Satalite Talkingheads - this must be the place Anything by the kinks Carole Bayer Sager, Marvin Hamlisch -Nobody does it better (Although I prefer the Radiohead version)
  13. I think there are good and bad producer's much the same as good and bad songwriter's. If the only thing that people want is a sure fire hit they get a formulated team with that kind of experience to write and produce the song. This isn't a new thing motown and others before that used to do the same thing and before bands like the Beatles it was common place. Unfortunately songwriter's don't write songs for songwriter's and the general public on the whole don't care about how the song arrived they just want to sing it for a bit and move on.
  14. Mainly my own experiences and observations mixed with my mundane day job :-)
  15. I write most of my melodies while at work doing my day job, screen printing allows me to come up with song ideas quite easily, then i note those on my phone on ever note then when i get home i record them roughly into my DAW. The lyrics are initially just padding for the melody but sometimes I come up with workable ones straight away. I find that trying to force the creative process never works for me. Ig it's too hard/not working for the writer then it won't work for the listener. So i would probably say melodies first :-)
  16. I use reason 6 and have been using reason since version one i used to use it in conjunction with Cubase but since reason record came out i find that using reason with record iscan ideal way to get my ideas down and tweak them to get them how i want them. Also i use an external sound card and a variety of mics, guitar and bass, currently testing the beta version of reason seven and with the added midi out im looking forward to hooking up some synths :-)
