  1. Yeah, l really like a guitar sound with that `long wave' radio hiss effect.
  2. John, No. Too many expenses! Will be sometime after Christmas I expect. I'm looking over specs of newer gear now. I get mags & flyers from Rowland a couple of times a year. Im due one about now I think. Steve thinks I should persevere with the PC, but I find it too frustrating to work with.
  3. I dunno, I always fancied a go on a melotron. Failing that, maybe some after shave. huh? Who's this guitar player that piddled over your God then?
  4. Doru, Sounds fine. Can you tell me whether these include instrument samples? If so do they need tuning/editing? thanks Rudi
  5. Didier, Sorry for the late reply, been absent for a while & lost some threads. Glad you got something you can work with. I will be sure to give these a try. atb Rudi
  6. Bert Jansch & also the Rev. Gary Davis. Without thier influence, I would sound entirely different when I play guitar. As for this... Are you having a laugh? What does he do that is so wonderful? It cant be the interpretation because he plays it not for note as per the Albert Lee original on the eponimous Heads, Hands & Feet album (why not cite Lee?). Also, its played at the wrong tempo (so you cant hear it properly) and finally, its a live recording (which you profess not to like). So what is Ricky's impact on your approach to music Steve? Has it inspired you to write bluegrass or something? :-*

    Pick or finger...

You fellers have inspired me. Im going to play a whole gig soon without a pick. Ive already got the hand lotion and will be lubing the nails daily.
  8. Divinity is a good attribute in a producer! Shall we take a vote? Or... will you ordain? Everybody has a skill of some sort Mine is making totem poles :'( steady lads....
  9. I think you have it right. A producer oversees & makes creative decisions about the recordings. However.... It varies a great deal. Concider Geoge Martin & the Beatles. George was the man in every respect in the early days. He even decided who would and would not play! What songs were included, which songs were chucked out. Hiring strings to sweeten balads etc. but by the time Sgt. Pepper came along, his role was to support and help realise the ideas of the band. But he was still the producer. Its a flexible role.
  10. They need humility, its good for them. Steve can give a few examples of this (like feeding them the wrong key before a song) Ever thought of buying a pneumatic instrument lead? Youll need to find a compresser (no not the mastering sort) with a capacity shut off valve. A hard hat is a good idea too.
  11. No no! Its vitally important to launder them first. (or are you on about the Womens Formation Skydiving again?) Anyway this technique doesnt work. I used it to re-mix the `Birdie Song' this morning, and it sounds as sickly commercial as it ever did.
  12. dunno, hes been doing that ever since we discussed singing into gussets.
  13. ooooh look! That last post was good enough to get me promoted to 4 star General! Cant wait to tell the family. Im nearly up there with Great Uncle Fred who was a Field Marshal in the Salvation Army, or even Great Uncle Norman who had his own Civil Defence Bunker for 30 years and never paid a phone bill. Does my duck get a braided hat now?
  14. Hmmm, not sure you have the most helpful motivational image there Steve. Rudi (puts a disturbing slant on some :-X lyrics too!)
  15. I read about using a pair of tights stretched in front of a mic as a pop filter. I guess whoever does this does not have a wife around. I cant believe that any woman would ever believe this. Its much easier to think of you as a pervert.
  16. Cut to the chase, why not just shove the singer in there? (and go down the pub)?
  17. Well, I asked around and came up with nothing. I am MOST surprised! I know one more music shop retailer that may have some idea but it may be a while before I see him.
  18. John said, and I quote... You can do that huh? It sounds great, but it also sounds very ambitious. Does it actually sound authentic? Getting Drumtracks to do it sounds favourite at the mo
  19. Ah thanks John! Sorry so late in getting back here. I would offer an excuse but I cant think of any at the mo. Rudi
  20. We are still not all talking of the same thing. Steve, your tempo may be perfect and uniform, but your playing along to the metronome doesnt mean you are nailing the beat ON the beat. There will be a tiny accent (usually just behind). BS. Not sure how you'ld set that metronome up in the 1st place. It would need to be perfectly in synch with at least the 1st part of the song. Concidering tape decks and other media dont all play at the same speeds either, its kind of hard to fix a stake in the ground. I agree in principle with what you say, though Im less convinced it is quite as prevelant as you suggest. Any hint of ralentando will twart the metronome, so certain types of music are not suitable for this kind of tempo test. I'll keep it in mind though.
  21. !!!!hehehehahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAaaaaahahaa!!!! :DI dunno , but here it comes now...... [move][glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left,300] :-X [/shadow][/glow][/move]
  22. Dont know about retrofitting. Actually its not something I could afford to indulge in now, but theres a keys-man who expressed some interest. I've passed on your comments. YES! LOL !
  23. Hey BongStuff, I saw a card on the `for sale' board at work (& I thought of you!) . Its a Rowland SH101 mono synth, he wants £320. Hes got a bunch of other stuff too but the synth is the star. Any good dja think? Hey Steve, I think I found your head a couple of months back at the Bishopstoke Workingmens Club. It was quite hairy (& chewingummy) & damp. When it fell off did you notice which way it went?
  24. Sorry man, I ment two say monotremata Led Zep & funk ? I asked the chilli peppers like you said but couldnt hang about long for a reply (my head was getting cold in the fridge).
