I've been a musician for almost five decades on drums. During that time I also spent eight years on rhythm guitar and a brief stint on bass.
I've been an avid reader throughout my life reading close to 400 books a year as a youngster. This studied appreciation led to a desire to write. My profession required technical writing and the side writing I did bore a little fruit: four published essays on the work of the great American philosopher and psychologist William James.
Now that I am retired I've been playing drums on a regular basis and trying to get a gig as a bassist. I'm starting guitar lessons next week so that a better command of the instrument will help me in song writing and as a future solo performer. As a lyricist, my first two efforts have been successful in the eyes of other musicians and in my own. For a variety of reasons my twin life long passions of words and music have merged and song writing is my highest priority going forward.
I'm looking forward to benefiting from the experience of my fellow forum members.
