  1. I've been watching people doing amazing stuff with a keyboard and a looper, like this girl: Maybe something like this, but less pop and more experimental. I'll probably be playing on the street to earn a little money, so I'll make some covers, rearrenge old songs and maybe do new ones with time. That's the idea, but once I see the possibilities I'll see what really happens (: What I need is some information about loopers and samplers from people who already know about it, some advices, reviews, or just "this one was good for me", so I can look for more info. I hope I can find it on second hand. I've been interested in this ones: SAMPLERS Maschine Native http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/maschine/production-systems/maschine-2.0/overview/maschine-details/ Ableton Push https://www.ableton.com/en/push/ (I know these two need a laptop, that's not a problem) Roland SP-404SX http://www.roland.com/products/en/SP-404SX/ LOOPER Line 6 M9 http://line6.com/m9/ If somebody has played some of these or knows about any other better, please, tell me!
  2. Hi there! I'm not sure if here is the correct place to ask this, so admins, feel free to change it in case! Since the beggining of the year I've been thinking about giving my live performance a new perspective, going to electronic devices that complete my keyboard. I have my band in Madrid but now I'm moving to Japan and I want to keep making music, probably on my own as they can't go with me. So I'm trying to be more independent right now and here is where lots of questions appear. I don't want to be a DJ or do the typical electronic music but I thought that maybe a looper could help me with different lines of melody, adding layers and so and probably using my laptop to play pre-record things (which I don't like that much because a live performance is a live performance buuut due to the circumstances... I need to eat haha). Then, the idea of a sampler came out, so I can play with different sounds at the same time, playing one pre-recorded line or another, then quite one, then another... I explain so well, I know hahaha. The point is I only have money for one of them before going (I'd prefer something under 150€, surely second hand) and I don't know which can be the best for me. Anyway that's not the question, I only want to ask for your opinion about these devices because I'm a total noob! Ok, so, to sum up, the questions are: 1) Which looper do you think is the best according to a relative low price? Specially one that goes fine with keyboards and can play different effects. I'd also like to play with my voice, so I can sing different lines and make it all sound as a whole. 2) Which sampler do you think is the best? Price/quality 3) Personal opinion. In my situation, what would you do? Would you buy first the looper or the sampler? This ones is what I've been thinking for, but probably you'll know more about all this things, so please, explain me a little! Looper: Line 6 M9 Sampler: Roland SP-404SX Sorry for my poor English, I know it's a mess. Thanks in advance!
  3. Wow, that's amazing! I would even want you to be my personal teacher haha. An spectacular improvement, that's what a good training is It is inspiring, so thank you for posting!
  4. Voice is a complex instrument, isn't it? I don't know anybody who didn't hate their voice at the first time, including me. I truly understand what you mean, at the beggining is hard, like "Do I reaaally sing this BAD?" and you get depressed haha. Ok no, but didn't happen to you that you started thinking you don't worth it and a lot of doubts came out? Because it happened to me, and it paralized me for years, with fear, which was horrible D: But then it's that point you're talking about, when you start to accept the way you sing and you realise it's not that bad really. The important thing is to train, as everything else. Voice is an instrument that need much practise. So if you have been training, I'm sure you're better than before and that's why it doesn't sound bad to you If what you meant was about one specific record, like you record something and at the first time you see mistakes that, while you listen to it again, seem to desappear, what I can recomend is to stop listening to it for a few days and then listening to it a week after, for example. You will see more clearly than before, for sure, and you'll be able to correct what you don't like with a better perspective, I think. Good luck !
  5. I'm not an expert either, but I've been thinking about this for a long time. I might be right or wrong or you may agree or not but this is what I think. Music industry, nowadays, is about products, the whole thing. It's about the notes you play, rythm, about lyrics, but also about attitude, what you say in every aspect. If you have something new to offer, you're going to be listened. And of course you do, never doubt about that, I think everyone just have to find it but there it is, in the inner part of you. It's your point of view, your perspective about life, which is unique, but somehow everyone can empathise with it in different ways. Because that's what music is, the most direct channel to express, isn't it? Then someone may like it, someone may not and that's perfect. It's perfect if you were true to yourself while you were doing it, if you really mean it. So what I think it's that personality matters, not only "image", because a hollow image says nothing. What I mean is that you have the originality inside, just think about what makes you different, what do you want to say, how to do it and the image will come by itself. Never try to imitate others, that's already invented, stay true and make just what makes you happy Anyway, it's good to take care of the image in the point that you have to make it as clean as possible. I work as a designer and I can tell that love at first sight, in this matter, is important, specially at the beggining. That's what people see first, before listening to you, so if you have something that attracts them, they're going to stay and give you a chance. It's only a matter of predispotition. However, I'd love to have a look at your musical personality!
  6. Oh god, this happen to me everytime! I have the poorest memory ever, for real, and it's horrible. Glad to see I'm not the only one! Hahaha. Well, I have the luck that I sing mostly in English but I live in Spain, where, you know, most of people don't know a shit about English, so if I mess up the lyrics nobody will notice. BUT if someday I have the chance to sing away from home, what am I going to do? D: What do you usually do? I try to improvise. I invent all the words, I mean, I start to say random syllabels that may sound like a mix of weird Japanese and Norwegian (wtf?), hahaha. My friends even invented a name for it which is "Kayhle" (because that's how it sound or whatever). If I have a new song and I get too lazy to make the lyrics, I think I'll sing in Kayle and that's it hahaha. Ok, just joking. I'd really like to know if you guys have any kind of trick when this shit happens. Like, I don't know, any exercise to not forget the lyrics? Writting them in the hand?
