I think if you put your works in progress on our draft songs board and if you interact with others on their works, you may get more participation than here on the introduction board. Peggy

Hi Gary, Welcome to Songstuff! 3 out of 5 is pretty dang good. There are times when I can write a lyric with melody almost every other day. Not completing the whole song.. and sometimes it's weeks between creating something. I think for me, being an emotional writer (up, down, or anything in between) makes the difference. I struggle when forcing a write and not too sure those are ever my best work. We have a challenge board here on Songstuff where @john lays out the parameters. That often has helped me step through those creative downtimes. I also, sometimes just go to my keyboard and studio system and just start playing and have broken through any block I have. Nice to have you join in and hope to see you around the boards. If you have any questions about the forums, just ask. Glad to help find an answer. Peggy

Have you considered Open Mic night in your area? Lots of restaurants, bars, pubs, coffeehouses etc. have them. Shorter sets, amateurs and professionals. Peggy

We have many social media platforms that we use to promote our members songs and to engage fans and artists. You need a couple of interactions with other members works to post there but that's easy. With your lyric interest, we have the lyric critique board that you might find interesting and the members are very helpful. Check out Songstuff's library for articles on lyrics writing. Also, look at our lyric challenges to focus and push yourself in creative directions. Practicing will help you learn chord progressions and scales. The Songstuff library has some good articles that address those things for guitar. Do you play or are you learning to play any instruments?
