  1. Hi Gordon, Welcome to Songstuff! We have a Collaboration board, too... and you might want to check out our WIP Critique boards. Peggy
  2. Hi M57, We have been reorganizing the boards and all is not complete. As to do with the Song Critique board, we have been moving the WIP songs to the Draft Song Critique board and implementing tagging to identify some of the items you mentioned ie. Instumental, lyrics, genre, 1 minute songs, mix, arrangement, etc. Tags will reflect what the piece of work is and also what part of the song the member wants to be critiqued, or if they are wanting overall impressions. This will make it easier to id for both the critiquer and the member that started the topic. We will also encourage members to identify when their song is complete and we will have other boards where the songs can be reviewed, showcased and highlighted as featured or finished works. Yes, i find myself also asking for the lyric and hope we can encourage members to provide the lyric. This is especially important if the lyric and vocal tracks are part of what they would like to be considered in the critique. We are putting together FAQ's and videos that will help the new members adapt quickly to the site and also provide the established member a reference. It really is exciting thinking about all the things we have planned and are currently working on implementing. Also, we are open to suggestions because the bottom line is, we want the function and navigation of the boards to better reflect the interests of the members and the music industry. Thanks! I appreciate this topic. I think you clearly stated some of the frustrations we are working at resolving. Peggy Here's the link to WIP critique boards. That is where the new draft song critique board is. https://forums.songstuff.com/forum/299-critique-wip/

    Drought Killers

I've always been afraid to put my mind there . ... if you say there's a drought, there is a drought.
  7. Hi Andy, Welcome to Songstuff! Good intro. and nice to meet you. I, too, like to work in different genres. Sometimes it brings out a blend in a piece of work that I really dig. Looking forward to hearing some of yours! See you around the boards. Peggy
  8. Hi Subvibe, Nice to have you join club, some good stuff to be coming. I think you have a fun poppy hip-hop vibe to BlingBlingBling. Very catchy. Vocals sound good. There's a couple of areas where I can't quite make out the lyrics but the tonal quality almost covers for it. it would be cool if you could post the lyric up too.
  9. Oh yes, this verse is so good and heart grabbing..
  10. I saw this too when I checked just a bit. It's a weird way to write, grabbing hooks and titles. Structure is something different, but not if you're using the same phrasing. Super! And all the best.
  11. Hi BibleJohnson, Welcome to Songstuff. Is that you playing guitar on the cover? Very nice. Peggy
  12. Hi LaMar, Welcome to Songstuff! Nice to have you join the community. Very cool (and touching) to be able to have ways to use your songwriting and love for music to reach out and help. Enjoyed listening and will see you on the boards. Peggy
  13. Thanks VoiceEx!
  14. Hi kygholiday, Welcome! Nice to have you join the group. Peggy
  15. I think it's beneficial to point out an obvious "similarity" when reviewing other people's lyrics. Especially if it's your lyric that the similarity arose from. Sometimes it's just that your line got stuck in someone else's head, or they jotted it down because they liked it and forgot to note where they had gotten it. Then one day they read their notes and think what a great line and use it. That's not good and most people would want to know if they'd done it. Sometimes it's blatant, sometimes sheer coincidence of phrasing. Like Ariana Grande's 2018 song "No Tears Left to Cry" is the line from my 2014 lyric. But what your describing (and I did alittle checking and eek.. pretty similar) could very well be problematic for this guy someday. That is good advice.
