  1. I'm having to think on this one. I've explored some. I'm old and have been involved with websites before and heard the questions and answers. So not sure. Though we all know what we all want as long range outcomes to some degree. We might not say the words, but we know.
  2. Hey, this is rather common. It is to your benefit really. It might give you leverage at some point for your own deal. I'm sure you could get a publisher, but like I said ..at the moment it is to your advantage. I had a friend that went the other direction ..and it cost them in the long run thousands of dollars. Why allow them 50% of your side of the song for nothing? I'm sure they have in someway paid for the other side share. You get enough of those, and you can leverage them....especially if one gets cut. David
  3. If you have a 360 deal in Europe I'm sure that they will be the decider on anything you do.
  4. Well, I understand your thinking. The way I understand the ownership of the writing is equal unless decided on prior to writing it. If you both sit down to write it and write it otherwise...it is 50/50. I have signed contracts like yours before, but I will also admit that I never wrote with them again. I think there should also be an understanding on the "demo" or "recording".. as some collaborators will want you to spend a large amount of money for a demo. It should be agreed upon to at least talk about it prior to spend monies. Your collaborator could think your co-write is the best thing ever written, and you might think it is the 44th song on your list to spend money for a demo. Causes confusion...best to work it all out prior to doing it if you can. Otherwise... you might spend a lot of time on a song that there is a question as to the %'s and when it comes down to it.... that kills the deal everytime.
  5. Thanks to both of you. Feel free to give me a yell. David
  6. cool...not sure yet...still wandering... maybe you could make a suggestion ..I've just wandered..read some forum stuff. Dave
  7. Hello... I'm Dave Graham. On FAWM.org I saw that someone had mentioned this site and was curious so I decided to give it a looksee of sorts. I'm a retired teacher that also write songs. Primarily a lyricist I have also dabbled in publishing due to get into areas where I needed to be one. I have over 40 indie cuts and 300plus film/tv placements that I was involved with as a writer. My first cut and tv placements came in the mid-90's. I'm situated in TN and am an ASCAP member. Yes, I write in Nashville and am familiar with Music Row and goings on there though I have collaborated on more rock and pop songs than country. I am rambling a little. Saturday night and home at the moment so, you know. mctownmusic @ gmail.com On fawm ..btw..I'm mctown. Dave
