  1. Hey Rudi I'm thinking more about makes and models. I have considered a standard mandolin and an alto, but much as I know about guitars, I don't know much about mandolins. Cheers JOhn
  2. Hey Marc Trouble is, as long as there is an appetite for celebrity, they'll find a way to make money. I agree change is coming, maybe even a more level playing field for indie, but as long as there is a need, there will be stars... Cheers John

  7. Hi Mike I don't know about downloads, but I found this for you: http://uk.europe.creative.com/estore/produ...ct.asp?prod=347 It is Creative's Live! Cd for installing on XP. The older 3.0 installer doesn't support XP driver installs. at £2.90 you can't complain too much... Cheers John
  8. Hey Marc It's a pretty good tool. They also do a hardware version. Cheers John
  9. How're you getting on? Any progress? Cheers John
  10. Hey Marc Is producing another version of the same song reproduction? Cheers John
  11. You know, I never even heard of that one! Too much time running Songstuff, not enough doing music! Any ida how much it costs? Thanks Marc! I forgot that I had posted this one! Cheers John
  12. Hi Ok, I know about the ampcast CD replication program, and it looks pretty good. Does anyone here have experience of this they can share? Are there other CD replication/duplication and distribution programs anyone can recommend? Cheers John
  13. A good suggestion Steve. If you can, go to a Music shop that sells Music PCs and get them to demo if you can. It certainly won't hurt. Meanwhil, I'll have a think and see what I can come up with, though my suggestions above are worth checking out. cheers John (Well at least I think they are!)
  14. Hi Marc I am interested in this, but to be honest, I don't know much about it! I'm off to check out your link. Thanks! Cheers John
  15. Sorry, can't help with this one...
  16. Hi I found this on the Songstuff news stream. The drop in their artists roster is suprising: Job cuts at EMI part of recording industry shakeup LONDON -- Record company EMI -- home to Robbie Williams, Coldplay and Radiohead -- announced Friday that it is to cut 1,500 jobs, including 20 per cent of its artist roster. While these developments are not as dramatic as they first appear (EMI is closing its British manufacturing arm, accounting for 900 of the job losses, and the dropped artists will be in minority markets, such as Scandinavia) they are the latest in a series of cutbacks by major labels, with more to come. Cheers JOhn
  17. That doesn't sound too hopeful. I'd be onterested to know how you get on though... Cheers John
  18. Hi Can you give a list of the equiptment you have? That would help. I don't know about Logic specifically but I don't see why the laptop would be overloaded. What is the spec of your laptop? Cheers John
  19. I hate to say I told you so... http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1104_2-5183692.html Another little gem from the Songstuff news stream! Cheers John
  20. Hey Glad to help. I'm going out tonight, and I don't have time to post a decent answer before I go. If I get time I'll post something later. Although they're a little out of date you should maybe check out the Songstuff "Getting Started" and PC Set Up articles. Cheers John
  21. Now that's a challenge. Have any of you tried updating the bios? Cheers John PS, what OS are you using?
  22. Ok, sounds like the POD outputs and mono cables are ok. To eliminate the y-connector you are using as the input, use the jack you are using on the speaker output to replace the current input jack. Now check the signal visually. If that still shows the left channel only. Eliminate the actual connection. Make sure the case/card mount isn't stopping the jack from sliding home. Still not working? Try slowly, lightly, moving the jack up/down side to side and in and out. Does the signal appear on the right while you are doing this? Have you tried directly monitoring the input on the outputs without going through anything but the soundblaster app? Is the app itself configured for a stereo in? I can't remeber the SB16 control panel too well. Can you turn down the gain or mute individual inputs? Can they be configured as monos? Cheers John
  23. Ok, maybe it's my memory, but are the inputs/outputs not all stereo jacks (except the mic)? Each stereo jack splits into two mono leads (one for each channel). Am I wrong? For each output channel on the POD a mono lead is connected to one of the two line in connectors on the stereo jack plugged into the soundcard? So I'm trying to eliminate a faulty lead, or connector. By swapping the leads about a bit you should be able to elimate a dodgy stereo jack, dodgy mono leads and work out if the POD is only outputing on one channel. Cheers John
  24. Hi Sorry, I meant the output 'y' lead. If I remember correctly the input and output are both 1/8" stereo splitter leads. To elimate the lead, swap the input and output splitters and monitor the signals in the app. Also elimate the individual leads coming from the POD by swapping the channels over. On the PC end, make sure the card mount isn't stopping the jack sliding fully home. You don't say where you are visually checking the signal in the PC. Have you made sure that the POD isn't outputing a mono sum on the left channel? Cheers John
