    Why do I feel like every lyric I write sounds bad

    The process of letting out an emotion or turning a thought into music is pretty amazing thing. Must have 5-6 books of one line to full lyrics and worse I have the same song a few dozen times .... it's a release it's something drugs relationships etc can't provide cause it's part of you. Good bad or down right ugly it comes from within ..... priceless.

    Sharing this with others can be intimidating even awkward but that process makes you a better writer musician.... figured I'd chime in .... been in a huge F'ing rut but starting to write....well I wrote two lines lol it's a start

    What Makes You Write?

    Most times I have a phrase or hook come to mind . that has somewhat of a be at or parcial melody . but for me it's emotion. It's a mode in in ,i write most times from an emotion and build from that. 

    Why most of my stuff is raw and simple . but for me it works. Very few times , Hhmm if ever have I had music then put words,to it. For me that feels strainedvand backwards. Tho I wish I could . 

    Or it could be I'm just lazy, and it's what's easiest for me hhhmmm.

    Getting Along With Band Members

    lol , it is always a challenge , if it clicks at first , give it time , the best thing you can do is know , we all have our way of doing things as do others , no two are alike , now put 3-5 artists together and well , mayhem  or bliss, because you end up spending more time with them then friends or whom ever , best thing , keep an open mind and flow with the punches, the fun real begins on a tour bus  ,lol 

    good stuff and fun times, keep it simple and try to have fun !!

    How Much Casual Listening Do You Do?

    most trade unions will not allow music on job sites , a safety issue , that i happen to agree with , now i do have one ear bub in on  very low, and think thats cool , when im not working most times that gives me my time for music , but i do listen to it , a wee bit behind on some new stuff but try to keep up , so 24/7  would describe music i listen to , either others or mine , for me listening to others music inspires me , and find myself scrambling for a pen and paper to write down notes of lines to work on later , which drives ones close to me insane because i have scraps of paper every where and books of lyrics half done , got to love writing , if not it drives ya insane !!

    agree with joe ' smart move to add other writers to AVOID lawsuits. but funny thing is a lot of bands go though stuff like this , on who wrote what and such . Again a side of music i dont like !! most times that i did work with others ,i had no interest in any rights to what we did , call it dumb or naive but i was having fun and if it went further then i could of imagined , well cool . it would be a self pride thing . again it goes back to money , and starving to get it in a trade that you love to hate . I have people tell me all the time i should DO more with my music , feel i have done what i wanted , been on tour buses played for thousands , rubbed shoulders with others that "made" it , but it all comes with a cost that i just dont want to pay , guess as i said in another post , I'm just plain lazy and love music for what i get out of it in my own way

    I will play !! As far as suggestions , maybe have a few ,lets not call them winners, lets face it we are all winners , but have another group or site or something ,anyway have a few picked. Best get a full 5-7 band sound recorded to lyrics, something like that,

    Collaborating, How Do You 'do It'?

    Cool subject,done a few in my time,with other musicians its a balance or a meeting of the minds, the process most times is a very cool thing most times, I'm very limited on the whole mixing and equipment thing,so that part is great when colabing with others

    If it's lyricist only the i just strum out What comes to mind,have a wee bit of trouble if they dictate the sound ,theyare looking for , either way its a pretty cool process,i do like putting a melody to a lyric,my talent is very limited but its a fun process

    many people make good money "songwritting" most are unknown , but know for a fact a lot of them are listed in many many country songs . and also know most have a big house outside nashville, also know most are like us , they love to play , invent and write , some call it lucky while some say they worked hard for it , either way , they make good money at it !!

    I really dont think anyone would complain if one of your songs went commercial and millions heard it , the pure fact that you did something millions of people enjoy to listen to , and then get a nice check for it , double bonus in my opinion.

    dont think anyone sets out to be commercialized , as much as it is a path that opens for them .from their talents and love of playing .

    not to say i wouldnt cringe if my kid came to me and said she wanted to be a musician and make a "living " from it . of course i would embrace but would do so shaking my head !
