Quite clearly I am new, and I am very excited to have found this website! I have been writing lyrics since I was very small, and always thought it was just a hobby. I am starting to wonder, however, if I have a knack for it and can kick it into something greater! I remember trying to write songs in Elementary School and make my younger sisters sing harmonies to my lyrics, then get frustrated when they couldn't hold a tune and write something else instead. (I guess it wasn't their fault - there aren't too many Kindergarteners who can sing like Whitney Houston!) I grew up classically trained, meaning I was in band (though not THE band), choir, musical theater, advanced theory courses and the like, and while I own a piano I cannot do much of anything in regards to playing by ear. Therein lies my problem - I LOVE to write, and I can hear the melodies in my mind to the words that I scribe, but outside of making a sad attempt at vocalizing the lines, I cannot get my music to anyone without eyes. That being said, after being told that I need to move into a field involving language I thought I'd try to run with this whole lyricism thing and see what happens, and, well... Here I am! Thank you for providing an outlet for "word people who do music" like me. I look forward to working with all of you!
