  1. BFD2.0 + Trillian and I pretty much hit that 3.2gig ceiling without loading anything else, still waiting for Ableton to go 64 bit.......
  2. Only bass vst I have ever been happy with was Trillian but thats not exactly cheap, the only other one I have heard good things about is Scarbee. Thing is neither sound as good as the clapped out Ibanez bass I bought for next to nothing so I would still go that route... Or maybe just sample some funk records/hunt down some bass multisamples.
  3. I would go for one of the low end Focusrite Saffire units http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio_interfaces/scarlett_2i2/ and then find a cheap midi keyboard second hand (after trying it to make sure none of the keys are bung). I haven't tried that Line 6 product but all the focusrite gear I have tried has been top notch both in drivers and preamps/build quality
  4. Most stands aren't really that stable as you raise them higher, particularly on carpet, does come down to $$$ really though. These are pretty solid at any height http://www.ultimatesupport.com/category/Keyboard_Stands__V-Stand , but are not cheap.. I have used it for keyboards as well as turntables/mixer and as long as you have enough weight on it that stand is not going anywhere. To keep the keyboard solid on other stands a generous bit of gaffer tape on the underside of keyboard/wound around rubber ends will keep it in place pretty well, match that with gaffer taped accross the feet on the floor and it will generally take a few knocks before going over (particularly in live situations). Watch out for the glue coming off if you leave it on too long though.
