At first a glib response, wittering on in futility

About life and lies, and inevitability

Digesting, I sought.

To reply in kind, with lyrical poignance

To make a point, without causing annoyance

Why? That's the key.

Love's a tricky thing, passionately flickering

Consumed and alive, with constant tinkering

Why? Don't you see?

Shallow, self-absorbed, a life without consequence

Better than others and full of self-magnificence

Love is confusion

Truth, an illusion

Hope, a delusion

Words all diffusion

That we could express how we feel

And understand what is really real

And admire the view of their views
