The technolog isn't exactly new, but it could be promising for certain genres that come to mind [cough].

Well, if you remember a particular video called 'Too Small to Save' [ahem], you may remember it features a grassy field where you rotate in 360 degrees, and in the end even look up. Same thing, really.

Photographic pictures with a fisheye distortion (or spherical mapping) will do the trick very nicely (CS4 tutorial):

now, if you combine the principle with video - bingo:

it's not perfect though - if you look closely, you can see the corners/edges where they fold/glue the original footage into a sphere.
