Hello everyone !

I am a fellow musician, mainly practicing piano and guitar. Though, I have been a little more interested in slightly technical issues and arrangements than pure songwriting. That is why I am particularly interested in instrumental music. I like to listen to it, but also to analyze, build and re-build it. For the beauty of the instrumental itself or sometimes to come up with as good a backing track as possible.

As to hearing my work, what comes spontaneously to my mind is a cover of a hit french piano only song. I did a completely different arrangement and re-recorded it with full production. Since 1) it is a cover 2) the original songwriter is not even aware I exist 3) I don't want to violate any copyright, would it be ok to upload only say 30 secs of it ?

A cover should be OK as long as you attribute the original composer(s)... if you intended to release it commercially you would have to pay for a license, but if it's just for yourself and friends to enjoy you should be OK, the worst that could happen is they ask you to take it down...
