Paint By Numbers Type Songwriting Tutorial?

I'm looking for is a tutorial/book/software that hasspecific instructions for every step of the songwriting. Something like:

1) Choose a key

2) Choose the chord progression (12 bar blues, ______, ______ )

3) Choose a melody to repeat for bars _____ of each chorus

4) etc.

I don't care what the result sounds like. I just want to be handheld through the whole process as a starting point. I've read quite a few songwriting tutorials but they are all much too vague for my abilities at this point. Any ides?

Well, why not take songs you like and use them as a template. You could use exactly the same chords but change the melody

or keep the melodic rhythm but change the pitches -You could become a little more creative and change the chord durations, but keep the progressions -and make up a new melody =OR you could write out the chords of the song in each section and vary their order and durations -

At least this way you will pick up how to write in various forms and keys.
