Scion does not take any profit from the releases, and it allows the artists to own their own master recordings

This is a great idea!

The only downside I can see, is the longevity of the project! While it lasts, it may be a good thing. But I suspect it won't last long...

(I'm getting to be very pessimistic in my old age!)

Not pessimistic...realistic...with everything that has been show to musicians, and fans of music, that doesn't seem like a wrong thing to say at all. It sounds all too true, even if we wish it weren't.

I really DO hope that it lasts a long time...I'd love to see something like this succeed...bringing the computer's Open Source movement to music....<Grin> Gods, I'm such a geek sometimes...

On a slightly related note...how come it's always the hip-hop labels/musicians that come up with the good ideas? <Laugh>
