I don't normally record covers since I can't sing and more or less just talk my way through songs. But I've always loved this song and especially Jean Stapleton's amazing delivery of the lyrics (I love when singers go way out of tune personally) and recently I read over the lyrics and it sounded like something a Trump supporter might say or think. It reminded me of that 'Make America Great Again' phrase for some reason and some of the lyrics were more insidious than I remembered. Please if you are a Trump supporter don't take offense, as a Canadian I must admit that I don't understand your political system very well so I'm not trying to denigrate anyone here. In any case I found a couple of extra lyrics I didn't know about so I recorded the whole thing with a simple 1/4/5 harmony with a relative minor in there too. Simple and clean. I'm kind of enamored with it but I realize as well that it's not that great. Just a simple little thing. The video is pretty bad, I look like a bobble head, ah well. In any case here's the tune, check it out, let me know what you think.
