This is a great thread John. Everyone is a bit different as I'm sure you know.

Some get satisfaction from merely playing and recording as a pastime. Still somewhere deep down inside we would all be pleased if our music gained a large following. For me it could go either way. I am realistic though. There is what I can do, what I like to do and what is possible. Those seldom merge.

I can't say nothing has ever come from what I've done. It hasn't paid off my mortgage, yet I'm ok with that to a degree, call it acceptance if you will.

I don't know if I would be happy holed up in a studio all day churning out music. I had a manual job and have since gone to a desk job. It can feel a bit confining. I imagine being in the studio writing all day to feel similar, not to mention I would need to have a timeline and a huge expectation of my product. Maybe there's an in between in there somewhere but I haven't found it yet.
