An interesting read and a problem that faces any struggling musician. Or maybe I should say, 'Creative' musician. There are so many musicians, like this mans students, who will be quite happy playing in a covers band once or twice a week to supplement their income. The problem lies with the creators. Let's face it, trying to be a creative musician is very difficult!  It's a time consuming, draining and sometimes, soul destroying task! And if there's no  reward or not enough financial gain to live from it, then those who would do it might not be able to! I've had many an argument with people who feel that music should be 'free!'
