'Old Love': a new video procedure for my new album

"The Flat White Album" is my debut solo singer-songwriter home-produced effort. I uploaded it on Dec 1 2019 for an official Jan 1 2020 release.  WHAT A RELIEF to finish the interminable tweaking and re-listening.  BUT, once out of my hands, I had to make a start on the videos, and this one was uploaded on Dec 11.

I did eight videos for my previous co-written album "Prescient" but sourced everything via Google Images where it is impossible to determine who owns the images (and anyone can put anything up there). So I withdrew that bunch of videos from public viewing having heard some horror stories of ordinary Joe's being sued.  For the new album I was determined from the outset to source images  with clear provenance and simple usage conditions.  Even in just the last 24 months, there have been a slew of new 'free' sites with lots of quality stuff ... pexels, pixabay, mixkit, etc.   I've also splashed out on one year's subscription to artgrid ... the one site that specialises in multiple clips of the same subject (same actors, location, clothes, lighting) ... enough for a large chunk of a music video!!

 

"Old Love" represents my first effort under this new regime and was chosen as it was short and the song has a clear and achievable storyline.  You are welcome to critique the content or the technicals.  As with most creative endeavours, I am limited by my experience, skills, resources, and available content ... and also trying to convey what was in my head into the final product.  Usually the very last 5% takes 95% of your total time and so many compromises have to be made!

 

The album has 30 tracks ... I still have 15 videos to do.  If anyone is interested in having crack, please contact me to discuss.

Hi Greg,

You are doing much better at this than I am at this point. I have been concentrating on making music. Peggy just asked me to put a few on YouTube, and I did, with just one pic. i know I am going to have to learn this but I am old and stubborn. I will!

I really like this a lot, the song and the video. I won't critique because I don't know enough but good luck with it.
