The Confessional: What instrument or piece of gear shouldn't you have bought ...

Recommended Posts

"... but today you're so glad you did?!"

You know the experience:  "you're not looking for it, but it ambushes you at the toy music store."  So, what's a soul to do?

I thought that I just went into the shop to buy a new set of headphones.  Honest.  (And, yeah, maybe to begin to think about how to replace an 88-key controller that was suddenly throwing spare parts all over the curb.)  I was picking out my purchase, chatting-up the staff, when I happened to glance over at the keyboard display and noticed the unit that was sitting on top.  I began to fiddle with it – a Korg KROSS 2. (The damn thing can run on batteries!)  Then, I confess, "it began to fiddle with me."  The more I plinked around with "what it could do," the more I realized that I could spend months with it and still not plumb the depths of what it could do.  (I since have, and I haven't.)  I was sunk when I glanced at the somewhat-impressive price tag and realized:  "wait – I can afford this."

Oh........good topic!

I wouldn't know where to start, I'm a terrible impulse buyer.  Probably my newest acoustic a fairly cheap ibanez but was very straight, nice electronics and was dinged up a bit.....HAD to have it :) just went inside for strings, (I didn't need it, I have several around and no income right now), but after new nut/saddle/tuners a tad bit off the bridge, it's the only acoustic I've picked up to play the last few months.  The cost did de-rail plans I had for my gretsch, (new pickups/bridge) but was worth it(for me).
