While others sing lyrics, I hum signature riffs and bass line?

After having played in rock cover bands for so many years, I'm finally starting to compose and write my own music. I'm great on the "instrumental", super creative, and am looking to strengthen my songwriting skills. When listening to songs, I tend to hear the instruments, such as the bass line, but am focusing more on lyrics nowadays

Hi Matthew,

And welcome. have you tried your hand at putting music to other's lyrics. I mostly write lyrics now and most are country, and all different kinds of Christian music, but now and then I write in other genres. I might have a few you will like. Just PM me.
