See the tree the lights are gleaming

Seemingly to seize the wonder of youth

You may wonder how a tree has a child so consumed

Hear the bells people are singing 

love is felt from New York to Beirut

You may wonder why the whole world is singing in tune

 

BECAUSE IT'S CHRISTMAS

Everywhere there's Christmas peace and joys in the air

BECAUSE IT'S CHRISTMAS 

Kids will have a wish list mistletoe and kisses we'll share

BECAUSE IT'S CHRISTMAS

Every year we witness people giving gifts to show how much they care

Everywhere there's Christmas the whole worlds saying I love Christmas

Even an isle of misfits can bring joy and a smile

BECAUSE IT'S CHRISTMAS

Santa and his reindeer spread love mile upon mile

BECAUSE IT'S CHRISTMAS

Hate seems nonexistent as if we all insist that every life worth while

Everywhere there's Christmas the whole worlds saying I love you

It’s a good start, and has real potential. I would try the theme through different Poetry forms and see if it takes you in a new direction. You have to be careful with popular and familiar themes that you don’t get stuck in cliches and forced rhymes.
