I'm not metal-head, but this is a great song I've enjoyed for years.

How many mics were used? To my ears the drum SOUND (all the various kit parts but especially the snare) doesn't quite fit sonically ... too 'thick' and too far forward in the mix ... possibly requires more attention to EQ, compression and reverb?  But that's only because I'm familiar with the original.

Congrats on 1) a great project, 2) the video, and 3) buying half the drums ever built

We use 8 mics ! 2 overhead, 1 or 2 mics for the snare (it depends the song and how many toms are used) 1 for the kick and the rest for the toms used !

I understand about the snare ! As a cover i wanted people to understand very well the drums so first of all the drums volume are above the rest. For how it sound sonically, may be to much attack on the compression ! And our snare as a very noisy ping average 1800 hz ! 
The fact that it doesn't the same then the original dosn't bother me though ^^
