OK bro i got it. I did what you said and play around with it. I recorded test tracks on all 4 tracks. And i heard nothing trough my monitor. But i put the tape in a normal stereo and It was all there. I think its a bad head maybe. How can i test for that and how can I fix it?

Are you plugged into the 'Phones' socket for monitoring? I would check that the phones output socket is OK. I had to replace mine at one point. Try using the 'Line out' outputs to try to get a signal. If the tracks are recording, then the problem lies somewhere else? This is not something I can help with here. You'll need to seek out an electronics engineer! If it's just a case of 'no output' I would imagine that would be pretty simple to sort out!

I started out on a twin deck tape stereo, you had to retune the guitars and keyboards everytime you started a new layer.

I upgraded to a Tascam Porta1 which looked a bit like this

I used that for years.

When I got my first PC, my father-in-law bought me Magix recording studio.

That got me hooked on PC recording.

I now use FL studio as my VST host and sometims for instrument recording.

I also use Cubase Se as my multi track.

I don't think that I could go back to a 4 track.
