Acoustic Guitar Maintenance

Recommended Posts

I try to keep it hydrated with one of those things to keep it hydrated. I keep it in a hard case, and take it for a guitar break most days (5 out of 7 average).

I dont polish it or put anything on the fretboard. In my youth I used to change strings every week, but now only when it becomes hard to tune by ear.

Knowing when to change strings is a bit like knowing when to change your razor blade. Everyone is different.

I change my strings every couple of months if I am playing regularly and every 4 months or so if I am not. It depends on how dull they have become. Fast Fret string cleaner helps prolong life though.

When I change my strings I polish and clean the fretboard and the body of the guitar.

I always put it in its hard case to travel and usually leave it on a stand, out of the direct sunlight, when at home.

That's pretty much it.
