High Wild Moors

Recommended Posts

I wrote this several years ago before I moved to Torquay. A visit to Dartmoor inspired this ! I tried to write it as a lyric but It wouldn't form so I just stashed it away. It has now been featured in Didiers newsletter ' Reflections of Shadows' Available from Didier himself.

I have waited for the latest newsletter to arrive before posting here.

High Wild Moors

On the high wild moors

over bleak barren ground.

Where granite lies sleeping

and legends abound.

Of giants and witches

and heroes and hounds

circles of stone

and mysterious sounds

Lay lines and causeways

boulders and Kings

carvings and crosses

and unearthly things

monoliths and tors

and beauty so rare

a heartbeat forever

drawing me there

It's a made up word becuase he needed a rhyme!  ;);D ;D ;D ;D

That's what I thought initially  ;D

I had to understand it, because I needed a translation for the French version of the newsletter.

It is indeed in my English/French dictionnary, so it is not only a 'local' word.

Dont forget Torquay, now made famous by both Steve & Basil Fawlty.
