  3. I think a good song is at once familiar and foreign, containing elements of the expected and mundane while having some distinct characteristic that separates it from its competition. The songs of Bacharach and David, for example, are incredibly familiar sounding but if you listen to the stuff he's doing musically it's hardly what you would call common or garden. The Beatles too were masters of what might be referred to as the "deceptively simple" style.
  4. From a little corner of the universe no one heard heard of then and few have heard of since a boy not inclined to spout many a verse was thrust forth into the thing we call existence and though he was not predisposed to fits of pique mild of manner and even milder of physique there lay inside him the constitution of an ox and the cunning of a fox now his mother did not suspect what her boy was capable of but father had his moments of cognition and there and then he know that there was no way that he could stop him bringing his ideas to fruition Now his grace was not discernible to the naked glance many looked right through him and simply saw a boy askance and it was his cross to bear that girls did not look twice and his elders thought it futile to impart on him insights But his solitude belied a fervour that the human mind just couldn't see and he knew that first he must obey his masters will if he was to be set free so what appeared to be concession was just the simple wait of time when the choir will sing and the birds will wing and things will be all right From little corners of the universe nobel men foregather day and night and with grim determination do converse and say unto themselves the future looks bright
  5. Don't look back lest you like what you see and pull a fast one and walk out on me Love don't hesitate, love don't contemplate nor adds ups the whys and wherefores or pros and cons vis a vis how it should feel tonight cause it just feels all right anyway Baby Baby, I'm begging you to stay we'll ride the river, darling we'll ride the rain we'll ride and we'll ride on this burdensome train The present is a minor inconvenience with gritted teeth we whistle past the now and scarper to the shadow of our private confidence and pray to god to make a break somehow I really like you you feel the same I guess perhaps I'm a lesser lover but a lover nonethelesss You and I both know how it feels to be street smart survivors with high-minded ideals we don't hesitate, we don't comtemplate we got a bond that nothing could eviscerate we stand small but we still stand proud what we say don't matter but we still say it loud The present is a minor inconvenience with gritted teeth we whistle past the now and scarper to the shadow of our private confidence and pray to god to make a break somehow Now I'm no sage and frankly I'd wager my life that you aren't either but the universal truth that great minds did elude is all you gotta do is be there and I'd say come off it should you deign to call me prophet oracle or anything therewith Furthermore, it would be ill-advised to pine for something you can't find when all you gotta feel is it Don't look back lest you like what you see and pull a fast one and walk out on me Love don't hesitate, love don't contemplate nor adds ups the whys and wherefores or pros and cons visa vis how it should feel tonight cause it just feels all right anyway Baby Baby, I'm begging you to stay we'll ride the river, darling we'll ride the rain we'll ride and we'll ride on this burdensome train
  6. So, I'm a 23 year old singer-songwriter (predominantly lyricist) looking for someone to write tunes with. Three of my lyrical compositions were selected as semi-finalists in the UK Songwriting contest. I'm open to all types of collaboration, indie, folk, country et al. Ultimately, just looking for something to do My influences are manifold and include seventies singer-songwriters (e.g. Costello and early Jackson Browne) and of course the great Bob Dylan. Though I am very much a novice at the craft, I am interested in exploring themes which relate directly to real life struggles.
