I get them too after playing for like 3 hours straight, I find it helps if I change the strings regularly. Also playing an electric guitar will not hurt your fingers so much because electric guitar strings won't have the same impact on your fingers

my take on theory is that it's useful to an extent. Some of the great guitarists rely only on their ear & muscle memory But I believe theory helps as you advance.

I play an acoustic & found that when picking with my fingers I have more control but the sound is clearer when using a pick. Personally I play fingerpicking songs using the fingers obviously & most solos with the pick.
