  1. TFunny old day today sunny but not very warm eh?

Now on to the serious stuff how are we all ?

Tues is our first gig since The Mint a while back and it's back to macsorley's in Glasgow and with us will be our mates from Fife The other side

we are looking forward to this one, It's been a while

we are still doing what needs done on the search for a perminent bassist and we have someone else comming to the studio on Monday for a try our fingers crossed

the new tracks are comming on a treat and have been improved with slight adjustments and will only get better as we play them

We have been short of a guitarist over the past week our mild mannered led axe playes sloped of to spain for a wee break lucky git!!!!

However!......... being Mild mannered but rather vain he decided to go get himself a little browner before hopping over to spain, and went for a wee sunbed and did he not have a 15 min session well blow me down he was burnt to a crisp the big dafty

so its true what some might say vanity kills or in Neils case burns your legs arms and other parts lol

Last week i finished another painting that was inspired by a image taken bu Greig Stott from Dundee of the "Rowan Gorilla VII" in the sunrise
You can check out Greigs work on his Facebook page as well ar the original shot

Sunday 3rd October we are off to Lochore to play along side our mates again The Other Side also on the bill are The fireside Aliens and storm in a D Cup, a 3 piece all female rock band should be a great day & Night

The reception we receved the last time was fantastic and due to the high demand the gig has been moved to a larger venue in the Lochore Institute
That will keep us busy for a few weeks
so for now its bye bye

  3. Is it me ?………………..Is it age ?……………….What is going on ?

There are strange forces around & strange things going on and I want answers NOW! I know it may appear to be an angry rant but it is more of a fear-filled ramble You see things are disappearing in my house firstly went my ears (my name for my hands free kit )

Then went the charger for my phone In addition, today I notice that the master recording of nobody makes me feel like you do has miraculously gone

There could be several explanations for this phenomenon

    1. Could aliens have visited my home and taken what they think are curious objects?

    2. Am I sleepwalking during the night and burying these items?

    3. Is this a big dream and have I just imagined the last few years?Who knows

Well it's that time again this time next week all the worry, stress will be gone Why is buying people presents such a stress filled activity?

Although I have to admit it was a stress free shopping experience for me this year, I think we put ourselves under so much pressure to please the people we care for that we lose sight of the most important thing

Just to love and care for our family and friends a better present you could not have.

Strangetouch are playing their last gig of 2009 at Maggie May's on boxing day and we hope to finish the year off with a bang To all who confirmed they will be there we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and thank you all for the support and encouragement you have given us over the year

Tonight Neil and I will be attending Kincaid Lives Christmas jamboree and we are looking forward to it we hope to have some good photos to show you next week.

Its really difficult to chose a highlight for our year but if I had to for me it would have to be when Music news Scotland picked our debut EP as top 4 to listen to in November

We were delighted that others thought what we had created something worthy of listening to So for now its bye and be good

     Thomas x
Hello what a very foggy cold afternoon it was and more to come me thinks What do you know I actually managed to get most of my Christmas shopping , in one day Oh! and yes before Christmas eve Result!!!!!!!

Mind you I still have some stalking fillers to get

Its so funny why does it always lead to thoughts of past Christmas's, were the presents really huge? Was the turkey better ? Was that Santa I really heard in the room ?Who knows

As I write this blog my mind suddenly shot back to the firs time I ever sang a song as a performance If I remember correctly it was a party at my grandmother's house I must have been around twelve years old My choice of song was "Rhinestone Cowboy" sung by John Denver and I believe written by Larry Weiss

I knew every word…………… Ah happy days Last week you all know we recorded four new demos I always try and make things visual so I generaly make a video to go with the song and post it on you tube

    .

    .

This took some time but I did post two This Time and Just not there (Jac's song )And the feedback was good but I wasn't prepared for what happened next I posted it on a few networking sites and my inbox went nuts

I still can't believe the comments, this song although it is a very personal song I didn't actually think was really that good ! I love the song but I thought that because it was my baby that I was more than a little bias The fact that we recorded it in a very basic way, well lets just say it was more of a song for me seemingly not It came about over 2 years ago when I wrote this and we had a little time left in the recording time so myself and Jackie sat down with three microphones and did the song together in one take I really wasn't expecting this kind of reaction

I may have to look at a full production on this song So tell me what are you all up to for the festive period we have a gig at Maggie May's on boxing day we would really appreciate it if you could make it

After that we have a slot in MaCsorleys 3rd jan Anyhow time I was on the promotion trail so for now be good and I will speak to you all next week Thomas x
  4. You know sometimes this world for me can be a very daunting place, in the past I have had my fair share of troubles but then again haven't we all

On a daily basis I deal with whatever I come across in whatever way I can and that is ok

Tonight this being Saturday I was invited along to Mr Kincaid's pre 40, 40th birthday party and sure he asked me to play a few song

The only regret is my partner wasn't there to share it with me , I love you honey you are an inspiration to me With it being a family party I done some of my more mellow songs I must admit I found it a little scary, being so close to an audience but I did my best and it was good I really enjoyed my night
Soapy being soapy dos not do things by half we set up with the KL banner and a bar stool or 2 some nice lighting I even done a cover of Paulo Nutini's Candy and although to be fair I missed a few lines it was worth doing

Patrick Bullen and Vivian Scotson did a great set with some of my fav songs such as the lights go out , set in stone and a wonderful cover of Sweet child of mine you really have to check them out at Uisge Beatha in woodlands rd Friday 2nd October

Patrick has a special talent in his guitar playing and a vocal that anyone would be proud to posses Vivian has a fantastic range and at some point can move you to tears with her soft emotional voice, just do not let Patrick tell jokes

And to be honest they both work well together

I also met Tiily who is on my friends list on my space what a truly interesting person we chatted as if we had known each other for ages; it was so nice to meet her

Happy birthday Soaps I am glad I have you as a friend and Susan you are just a hunni loves ya loads

And that is what life is all about family friends and enjoying life

I really don't know how as I remember the days when a party sing along was the wild side of life or ten guitars oh but not at soapy's party no that wont do at all

Mr kl and his friend went up and did a medley of Portland bill into rainbow (yes the Zippy George and Bungle one ) and to top it of a fantastic rendition of am the king of the swingers although soapy's timing was well out it was a different concept to party sing along well done guys

We have a few new dates up on the site for your viewing
We are indeed well chuffed to be a late entry into the Tarbert Music Festival and it was by pure chance that a band pulled out don't know who they were but we thank you

And with that I will leave you with this thought

We are blessed for the simple reason it's not what we know! but who we know as our friends

They are really hard to come by but I am indeed blessed

Ps. If you haven't seen a friend in a while why not give them a wee call and catch up

    Be Good

  5. Jugglers, Actors, musicians of every conceivable gandre and all on or around the Glasgow subway that was the order of the day

yesterday we played a little jam session with Patrick Bullen, Vivian Scotson, Mary K Burke and Rachel Dawick some nice tunes played songs like, Set in stone by Patrick and Vivian to a cover of James sit down …………..even a wee rendition of the Police's Roxanne so good fun had by all and some new friends made too........................................ oh and yes MR KL himself was in on the act you can see him in one of our pics

Although it has been quiet over the last few weeks, wed night, we are playing Bar Bliss in Kirkintilloch, so if you are not watching the footie then come along

For you all tomorrow is a bank hol but unfortunately, I have to go to work, as we do not get this one boooooooooooo

Would you believe it we sent 2 of our Ep's off to foreign parts one went to India and the other went to new York oh how cosmopolitan are we lol

and I must say that our song count went through the roof the week after KL 4 it seems to have settled to an average of 45 plays a day now that’s not bad eh ?

Our new bass player and fingers crossed he remains in the band as we don't seem to have much success with them lately has been working hard and should be ready to gig with us soon although we still seem to be finding it hard to get a drummer and as you know the bass is being played by David Blane I thought it may be a good idea to suspend him in a glass box above the stage but keep it quiet for now, I haven’t told him yet ! ! !

So this got me thinking which in all fairness is not a safe thing for me to do at the best of times

There must be loads of unknown musicians out there with names the same as well known musicians so get your thinking caps on and lets se if we can list them

I will start you off with John Taylor who incidentally is a great Glasgow singer songwriter with a great voice who shared his name with John Taylor from Duran Duran

for now i wish you a happy sunday and enjoy your bank hol tommorow and spare a wee thought for me working

Be good se ya all next week

    Thomas x

  7. With all the things that are going on in my life at the moment i find it quite strange that i feel so comfortable in my life and i tell you what if you had friends like mine then you would be rich

I am sure you all are aware that I am playing a gig on friday 30th may at The ferry in glasgow and i have a responsability to sell some of the tickets otherwise i wont get payed and thats no good when you are trying to raise some cash for the ep project and by the way its gonna be a good night some of the acts on i have played with before paul duncan interesting fellow with a great talent , and the apsherons and if there acoustic set is anything to go by then they should blow the roof of must remember my water wings just incase they do

i intend to go into the studio end of june or begining of july to record the 4 track ep but again that depends on how well the tickets go for the ferry gig

only time will tell . this is a big step up for me after playing my first gig to a crowd of 40 ish to play a venue that has the room for 650 is i big step but i will do my best and take it from there

last bit of news is some button badges on the way so there will be some freebies given out on the night you only have to ask

so take care and se ya all soon

    Keep on keeping on

  8. To say this week has been an interesting one well lets just say thats an understatment now i look at my life as a fairly uncomplicated one but that was untill 2 weeks last thursday

There i was lounging in the tub wee bit of lynx shower gel and the usual array of bath toys (keep it clean) few rubber ducks and some nice floating candles watch out for them it dont half sting and as you do going throug my washing routine . shock dismay what the hell is that oh yes a lump bloody hell i thought that cant be natural but i knew it wasnt i tell you i felt like someone had dropped an anvil on my head i went brain dead so what do i do no choice i went as usual to work the next morning trying to keep it together made an appointment for that afternoon home wash clean pants well my mum would have had my guts for garters if i had forgot
God it seemed like ages sitting in the waiting room but my name was called and with that knotted feeling i went in

The conversation with the doc went somthing like this who was young enough to be my daughter
DOC: goodafter noon how can i help
ME: well i have found this lump
    DOC: ok where
    ME: on my testicle
    DOC:which one
Me: left ( i thought dis it matter i found a lump)
DOC: ok are you sexually active
ME:(i was gonna say well i can do a few moves but thought it unwise) well if once in the last 10 year counts then yes ( she did not find this amusing)
DOC: ok i do have to have a look
please go behind that curtain and...............................................

so i did what i was told first of all she said i can't find it well that was a dent to the old ego right away so i repositioned myself so she could
and after much squeezing( and im sure if she had them then she may have been more gentle ) she proclaimed oh yes you do have a lump (NO SHTT!!! i thought) ok you can get dressed now
so what now, well i cant be sure what it is so i will make an appointment for you for the urology dept and in the meentime take these antibiotics which i did try not to touch it too much as you may cause more damage (what a statment that was )
ok i said and as i walked to the dore she uttered those imortal words TRY NOT TO WORRY ok doc i wont give it another thought
so that was that to be honest i did keep it in perspective and did try not to worry but it aint easy but i do have good friends and the help they were i can only hope to repay someday but to detract from subject matter not all was well at home either i had a sick computer too it was infected by some sort of msn virus which was sent to my daughter so i had to fork out a wad to get some good antivirus so sorted it was well no i came in next day and it was dead as a do do only thing on the monitor was NTLDR file missing please press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart which i did for several hours before i gave up
Action plan rescue disc this was fairly straightfoward but i had added extra hard drive and better sound card which i could not find discs for so it took me several days to sort out and re load with help from the boss my new antivirus so be aware of this virus and dont accept files through msn its not worth it anyhow meenwhile back to impending doom
i duly receved a letter of appointment for the hospital on the friday so it was 2 weeks from finding lump to hospital now thats not bad now i had been through this once before but the lump was located in a diffirent area and turned out to be a syst but somthing wasnt right bout this and i was lets say a big bit scared but what choice did i have so with a mate in tow went off to meet my new friend
Now it didn't take long this guy knew his job and with great care had a feel of the offending growth (and i think he had a bit of empathy for my plight as there was no pain involved in the check this time ) ok take a seat he said
well you do have a growth and i am posative its not going to kill you as you prob thought ( mind reader too such talent) well words cannot express how i felt i really felt in limbo for 2 weeks and i could have cryed but i just grinned like a cheshire cat instead so what happens now i said well we will do an ultra sound and if its not causing any problems leave it alone
wel there is a moral to this story isnt there i personally check myself once a month due to the last lump it made me aware of how impotrtant this is and if it had went the other way well it may still have been a happy ending for the fact that i found it early could have just saved my life
so if yer a bit shy guys well judst dont tell anyone your doing it but GET IT CHECKED it may save your life you would be nuts not to (pardon the punn)
ok se ya all next week and remember be good
    Thom
Well what a week i have had firstly had an apointment with a consultant at the local hospital seems i need to go for an op sometime in feb that kinda threw me a bit but never the less i have to get on with it and until friday all seemed quite normal untill i went in to work that is and was told by my manager that i was being mooved to another area but again i accepted this as it will give me a new experience
sat went out with a friend from Kincaid live to try and find a venue to host a small acoustic night well the way i work is on the basis of if you are honest in your affairs then you really cant go wrong
well would you beleive it ( and let me say i was never in doubt) a venue presented its self a great wee bistro in glasgow city centre wow was i supprised by how the basment was it was made for just such an event small and acousticly perfect and to be honest the owner was great he litsened to our proposal and liked what we had to sa so much so he offered us 23rd feb

for us its a start bottom rung but hey its the place to start as long as we are realistic and dont get over confident i cant see too many problems so onwards and upwards

Now here is where we all find out who i really am and all about , where as i never have said i am very good at much i do own some great qualitys spelling not being one of them incase you hadn't noticed .
But one thing that has been in my life from a very young age is music from when i sang in the school choir to now although i do have to say i did kind of loose my way for a while there, i allways wanted to be involved in music in some way and i am very nieve in lots of ways lets take the theory of music this is a lets say a difficult concept to understand if you are me and i can only speak for me but there has to be that element of feeling thats how i do it i feel what i write when i was involved with bands i wrote lyrics but found out trying to relate to others how i wanted it to sound very frustraiting so i had to do somthing about it so i got myself a guitar and you know what i dont even know half of the chords i play and i can just here the gasps of shock and i aint even posted this yet but still i get great joy from picking that wonderfull pice of wood and steel up strumm a little and hey presto sound melody magic appears before my very ears and the ear well for my money the best organ on the body stick a few chords together it tells me that sounds good or even that just isn't right i relate to most things in my life through music be it sad or happy a song almost allways stirrs a memory in my mind but i went off on a tangent there didn't i what im trying to say is i love music
Reflecting on last year has taken some time for me; after all, it has been quite a year.

Our year started in Dundee with an acoustic set @ Druthey’s, we had been invited up by Andy who looks after The Trade a Forfar band, it was a real experience I have to say I was very nervous , the guys made us very welcome and it has been great getting to know them

62 is the total of gigs we have done over the last 12 months venues such as Cosmapol both in Glasgow and Clydebank The Bank house, The Wee houwf and a few others in paisley along with a lot of venues in Glasgow, Montrose
Some of the more memorable gigs we have done were in the most unlikely of places, Glasgow Kelvin hall was one such venue along side David Epton and Vivien Scotson and Patrick Bullen seemingly there were 1,000 tickets sold Another odd one was when Patrick invited us along to play The Glasgow underground festival, we spent a few hours playing in a carriage on our famous clockwork orange Within a very short time we have met some wonderful people a few great bands and had the most fun I have ever had.
Recording is always a special event and this year we recorded the EP Touched although it is not available in any store you can get a copy at a gig or by dropping us a message on my space
And we also done a few more demo’s with Jamie Martin @ VU Studios only a very young 17 year old with the world at his feet and a thoroughly nice young man keep your eye out for him I predict big things for him and remember you heard it here firstBeing on the radio was another event that I could never have foreseen, Roy Weeton from Millside Radio was the first to play a track from the touched EP, of course Neil and I travelled down to Galashiels to do an interview with Scott McMullen this didn’t go as to plan due to our car giving up the ghost 10 min’s after we set off needless we were really late and only got there 30 mins before the end of the show.

Playing live on the radio also presents itself with new barriers to climb but climb them we did Appearing on the Mary K Burke show to celebrate the 60th birthday of Chuck Warren who is a professional story teller, Chuck is native American Indian and treated us to some tails from his vast collection on the Ottawa tribe
A big thanks to Tarbert music festival who gave us a slot we really enjoyed playing our first festival and fingers crossed we can get a slot this year tooWe can’t go too far down our year review without mentioning the arrival of our newest member of Strangetouch “ Ken MaCrechan “Who found us!
Ken as those of you who read our blog or have attended our gigs will know is 61 He seen an ad I put on another site when I first thought of getting a band together, He made contact with me and we arranged to meet the thing that struck me when I first met Ken was his passion for music and what do you know he fits in so well, within 3 weeks he had the basics of all our songs down to a T and now? Well he has settled down into a role that makes such a difference to our music it allowed us to pick up our electric guitars and start evolving
The year ended with a gig at Maggie May’s on boxing day who I must say from an artists point of view run a good ship it has to be the most hassle free gig I have ever played
I have to also say a big thanks to Stewart Fullerton who has done our photoshoots over the year what a talented guy only last night he was doing the shoot at the Hogmanay bash at George sq withTommy Reilly, Black Hand Gang, Bahookie and of course.......... Deacon Blue To mention everyone who supported us in what we are doing would take far too long so all I can say isThank you to everyone who made 2009 such a special year for Strangetouch we wish you all a very happy new year and be good it pay’s to be good
