  1. Adam, Lazz, et al., are right. Watch out for the Paramount people. They have a rotten reputation even among the sharks. And the work of theirs that I've heard isn't very good to begin with. I kept their Website bookmarked for a long time to remind me that just because something looks good doesn't mean it is.

  2. Lazz, I think the rest of the band is going to feel the same way. But I'm asking them. Basic conflict of purposes going on, here, I think--the lady in charge of entertainment wants a talent show with little kids, and nothing else, and I want music and don't care about the talent show. She's made it clear that she's in charge of entertainment and doesn't care what I think. like I said, I'm not going to fight it--but I do hope it'll be different next year.

  3. I have to put myself in my songs. What else have I got to work with? That said, I think it's necessary to do it in such a way that other people will understand--otherwise, I'm not communicating.

And it's not *exactly* personal. If all of the things I write about had actually happened to me, I'd probably be dead several times over. And I don't think I am. But there's *reflections* of me in everything I write. I think of it as exorcising demons. I mean, we wouldn't want them demons to get flabby, would we?

  4. Alas, only two hands, Steve. I need more.

"Alice" has been my computer for 3 years, but I had her running Windows 98 because of some very expensive graphic-design software I didn't want to pay to upgrade. When I first moved to this area, wireless was my only Internet option (I now have cable), and "Alice" freaked out and had to go to the 'puter hospital, where the Idiot Techie Kids wiped her hard drive and eliminated a lot of irreplaceable software. I upgraded to Windows XP after I found a work-around that let me still use the expensive Win98 software, but the upgrade (different shop--I wasn't going back to the Idiot Kids again) wiped out a lot of *files* that had been created with the old Win98 programs. And I'm still dealing with that.
