Everything posted by Richard Tracey

  1. He will have to wait till January is over though
  2. Ha ha - the only thing I can think of a link with your post and Rudi's is the similarity with Siren and Irene!!!!
  3. Post removed to allow the free flowing of this game. As I mentioned previously I didn't fancy going through 280 odd pages of this topic to get the gist of the rules. I'm now getting a feel for this as we are going on.
  4. Cheers Rob / Tom and others - I will start with posting more obvious ones until I get the hang of it.
  5. Sorry Tom - I meant to the Los Lobos Evangeline song that Rudi posted with this one, as I thought the other was just a bit too cliche. I didn't want to go back and re-post for your one in case I derail the flow of this topic....
  6. But here is one to go with the other post: Is this the kind of idea?
  7. Okay, I'll go with an obvious one - only because I love this song...
  8. Happy New Year to everyone, hope it is a good one and brings a lot of inspiration for making lots of really good songs/lyrics And thanks for making me feel welcome this year and I hope to be more productive on the site next year (you can all stop groaning now ) Cheers
  9. 'Yeah, Rob that was it. I thought, well my understanding, was to try and use obscure connections as well, make it a bit tougher to get the connection. I know some of the posts I've read don't seem that obvious at first, well certainly not to me as I've not heard of half the songs/artists.
  10. I'll leave any clues till tomorrow - I think Dek will probably get it right away. It is probably more a U.K. thing.
  11. Hopefully this is correct with the theme of this topic...
  12. Okay, can someone explain to me the premise of this topic, without going through 280 odd pages. I look at the posts and don't see much of a pattern, so was wondering what the song title association is with the tracks posted. I would like to join in, but don't have a clue what to do... cheers in advance.
  13. Hi all, Just to let you know Arturia are giving away this filter for FREE just now. It needs to be used with a DAW and is not standalone. Had a look at the introduction video and downloaded. It looks like you can create a lot of nice sounds and filter/effects. And it is FREE!!! Here is a link: https://www.arturia.com/get-your-free-minifilter-v?&utm_source=elasticemail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=minifilter-v_gift_2016&utm_term=nl-minifilter-v-availability&utm_content=get-minifilter-v_picture1-greenbutton Cheers
  14. Any news on the EP and singles yet John?
  15. Rudi - my friend has a shit load of guitars and is always on the lookout for his next one. He is adamant he will not buy a guitar without trying it first, as like the problem you had, not all guitars are made the same or feel the same. I have one electric guitar that is sitting gathering dust and has been for about 3 years as I keep putting off learning it. My friend uses it when he pops over to record music. I don't know if you guys are the same, but he walks about everywhere with guitar picks in his back pocket - it cracks me up!!!
  16. I've never been in the Mosh Pit, but I have sent a request so that I can see what everyone is talking about. I'm also grateful for the site and hope to spend a lot longer contributing in any way I can. Cheers
  17. Dek - get a Roli Lightblock, it is a small midi type controller with 5d touch. I've got one for xmas and tried it out early. It is what I used on my latest track to make the modulation type sound with the synth - all you do is move your finger sideways while playing a note. You should have a look on YouTube to get an idea what it can do.
  18. Hi all, for anyone who is interested, Wave Alchemy are selling their award winning SynthDrums package for £1 at the moment, but it is only for another 24 hours. It includes 5930+ synth drum samples and loops, mostly of vintage synths and hardware. I have just bought it and the main library is just short of 900mb and can be used in different drum kit software. Hope it's something of interest. I've included the link below in case you are interested: http://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/synth-drums/pid100/ Cheers
  19. Hi Beant - welcome to the site. I've been known to like some hip/hop stuff, so gave this a listen. Really like the backing track. For your vocal delivery I would maybe put another drum beat in the background when you are rapping to get the correct flow, so you are hitting the vocal on the beats, this can then be removed once you have done the vocal. The vocal is good, but could be a lot better. I would maybe find a cool sounding vocal preset to make the vocal blend into the track better, maybe have some harmonies over certain words you feel should be emphasised. I would work on your delivery and breathing technique, as rapping can be a hard thing to do and not sound like you are out of breath. Maybe split the vocal up when you are recording and just do a small section at a time. Hope this helps and look forward to hearing more from you.
