  1. Yep, if it can be converted to .avi etc you'd be able to manipulate it with Mediamaker, or get something slightly more advanced like ZS4 Video Editor (free)
  2. Yeah, great story indeed. (also love that bootleg title: All You Need is Glove...) Lying in the Arms of Mary - Sutherland Brothers and Quiver [rhymes with shiver]
  3. Well, technically the copyright of any video *created* with the software/product does not lie with the makers of the software, but with *you*, unless you specifically signed those rights away via some EULA, but even then, I doubt if that's totally legal to force you to sign your rights away. You could check out SUPER encoder, that should let you convert .mp4 to any of the other formats. MP4 in itself is not a protected/DRM'ed format. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html let me know if you have success or not, there are a couple of other free programs that will convert .mp4. Super is just a very all-round tool to have around, anyway.
  4. If you want to use the noise reduction without it hurting your audio, use Amplify on the section you want to sample the noise levels, set to -3dB (yep, you can use negative numbers). I always use a passage with *only* noise, for sampling. After that, you apply Noise reduction at it gentlest setting. This 'softens' up the effect in such a way, that it still does a pretty decent job, but with no ill effects on your audio quality. But really, if you want best results there, don't mess with such plugins, and get Reaper or something similar, and do the job using EQ.
  5. Yes, it's very nicely done - and in such a way it shouldn't even mean everyone had to take out a 2nd mortgage on their house.
  6. That happens more often than people think. Check the settings of the (internal) soundcard, indeed. Also, I would caution against overmuch use of Audacity denoising - it *can* work out OK, but only if you really know what you are doing - in all other cases you maim your recordings. If you have noise issues, check the microphone etc - and using the internal soundcard could also be the culprit - even *borrowing* a half-decent microphone and use that on the M-audio could be a better idea. But I mean, I have a cheapo Behringer C1, and they only cost 30-40 euros second-hand, and even though they are not the best available, they do the job for vox and guitar *quite* well.
  7. Not your average optical illusion - this one influences what you THINK you are *hearing*...
  8. Duh. I can imagine some companies not being exactly overwhelmed with this turn of events... http://mozillalabs.com/rainbow/2010/10/28/cloud-meet-rainbow/
  9. Erm - it *was* heavily autotuned - pretty easy to hear, I thought, too.
  10. Good development (anything to get them to play an instrument) , or bad (glorified musical karaoke) - your opinions, please http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2010/10/rock-band-3-power-gig-review/
  11. Screeching Weasel - Crying In My Beer @ Tom .....very cute Rob! ...... Clifton Chenier? -> Zydeco? -> Cajun? Really telling me you never heard of him?
  12. Cool - he has just accepted the invitation.
  13. Maybe also check the 'Play other tracks while recording' in Preferences?
  14. I'm sorry - that should be Neverloading Story (that .gif pic is just a terrible trolling prank) Saw Spoof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPjQOOIMn2k
  15. Yeah, it's very well done. Here's another one, based on Neverending Story
  16. And another one [will bundle them all later in the OP] http://nofilmschool.com/dslr/
  17. [For those who just tuned in, with 'timely' John means, hey I just got one of dem a-videoshootin DSLR's as well ] Here's another one, very generic DSLR tips & examples, from Reelseo
  18. I decided to start a collection of pages with tuts and guides on shooting video with DSLR's - here's the first one: National Geographic tut page. Enjoy. Any questions, just holler, and I will provide a tutorial answering the question, or failing that, try to answer it myself.
  19. Tu peux cogner mais tu peux pas rentrer - Clifton Chenier
  20. Well, if you remember a particular video called 'Too Small to Save' [ahem], you may remember it features a grassy field where you rotate in 360 degrees, and in the end even look up. Same thing, really. Photographic pictures with a fisheye distortion (or spherical mapping) will do the trick very nicely (CS4 tutorial): http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-make-3d-spherical-panorama-photoshop-cs4-extended-258635/ now, if you combine the principle with video - bingo: http://www.fullscreenqtvr.com/ it's not perfect though - if you look closely, you can see the corners/edges where they fold/glue the original footage into a sphere. Hope that clears it up. @ buddzunga - LOL
