  1. I'm still a long ways away from finishing this album (I still haven't finished the title track), but I have finished the album cover. I also have it in poster form.
  2. I've spent the better part of a month working on this. Even simple animation takes a long time when you're a one-man crew.

I do not have a soundcloud, but I do have a bandcamp page. https://buskers.bandcamp.com
  4. I have been mixing and mastering my own music since the beginning. For a couple of years, I had a friend of mine who used to run a recording studio years ago take a listen to anything I recorded and see how it sounded (kind of like an engineer's assistant at an actual studio). Sadly, due to non-music reasons that I really don't want to get into here, we had a falling out, so I've been learning how to mix using the experience I've learned over the last few years. I am still far from an expert though, so I send out any song mix to see if others think it sounds okay.
  5. If you're a bass player looking for a different song to learn, you can't go wrong with Stuart Morrow-era New Model Army:
  6. The way I see it is: I would be happy if people listened to my stuff. If they like it enough to want to buy it and listen to it anytime without streaming it everytime, that's cool. If someone wants me to collaborate on or outright join their band/project based on what they heard from my own stuff, even better.
  7. This is something I did a few years ago. "Sweet Leaf" should be an obvious song to make a reggae version, but I couldn't find one at the time so I made my own.
  8. "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture." -Martin Mull
  9. I mentioned in my intro post that I have done collaborative work before. Well, I have collaborated with a guy from the UK that I met on another forum. We've done two songs before (one an original of his and the other a cover), and we just completed another cover song.
  10. Ron Jarzombek is a guitarist that doesn't get talked about enough. He's an extremely talented player, but he also has a sense of humor about him, reflected in song titles like "Harm and Half-time Baking Shuffle" and having Carl Stalling (the Looney Tunes composer) as one of his influences. In the example below, he took the lines and vocal cadence of Thumper from Bambi, and transposed them into lead guitar licks.

I'm never very good at making intro threads on forums, but I'll give it a try. I decided to take on music six years ago after being involved with making art and cartoons for most of my life. I've always had an interest in music, but never felt like I was good enough to actually play music (although I could write lyrics and sing). After teaching myself how to play guitar and bass, plus learning some things about electronic arrangement and music production, I feel that I have gotten to an adequate level though I strive to get better (especially on the production end). I've come here mostly to look for a second pair of ears to listen to any incomplete songs I make and provide production pointers, though I'm willing to collaborate on others' work if need be (I have done some collaborative work with other artists in the past). Anyway, I hope this place is a good fit for me.
