    Loopers

Hey gang Have any of you done much experimenting with loop pedals? There are some awesome artists out there. I remember being blown away by Dub FX a number of years ago. Innovative and talented and loops are the core of his act. Ed Sheeran gets slammed by many for his songs or guitar playing (jealousy is a terrible thing) but his work with loops is quite awesome (as are his custom loop stations)... Do you have any experiences or even better performances to share? Cheers John
  2. Hey If you love Electronic Music (of course you do, you’re here, aren’t you?) then have a listen to, and like hopefully, our Cool Indie Mixes Electronica Picks playlist on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/e5aZuis1G7GG1zKk7 Cheers John
  3. I think it is number 2 on the playlist, so it should get good exposure

  7. Hey Billy If you add your release to our showcase board, and include your bio and your promo pics, along with your permission for Songstuff to use and edit your pics and bio text, I will promote your release on our sites. Would you be interested in doing a short video interview for Songstuff? Meanwhile, I added Deeper to the Songstuff Alt-ish playlist Cheers John
  8. I set aside time for learning skills, and time for using those skills. I find it a far more effective way to work. Of course I learn when using skills too... but it is not my focus at that time. I practical terms that means doing batches of quick projects with a strong focus on learning and experimentation, and expanding ideas. I also set aside time for full projects to create finished tracks. When experimenting I delve into sound, sound colour and shape, I find and play with patches and VSTs, I try sounds and effects, I create overall sound productions of short slices of songs that interest me working out and recreating this sound as a pastiche. I also try ideas, but stop short of developing either into finished pieces. When creating a track I have a rule.... this is when I apply what I have learned. I use my knowledge. I try to resist delving, investigating etc. It keeps my process clean, and I rarely waste or lose time.
  9. Hey Gang Just to wish you and yours, all the very best of wishes for 2021! I hope the year is everything you hope it to be and is brilliant enough to leave 2020 in the dust. I hope its an excellent year for music making! Be happy, be safe John
  10. Hey I enjoyed the track. A nice light-feeling song. Video wise, Some nice shots. At times I was shouting “steady cam” at the screen. Other than that some sort of visual narrative, putting the shots in context, or a connection beyond light across the fields between the visuals and the lyrics would have helped. Perhaps a verse/Chorus approach to the video work? Even conceptually. So, for example, verses, tight, confined, close, narrow alleys etc, so the chorus visual of wide open expanse really hits... I get that might not chime with your COVID walks, but it would make for an engaging video that goes beyond a trail diary. That aside, I actually did enjoy it overall Cheers John
  11. Hi and welcome to Songstuff Cos!
  12. hey Pete I’m guessing you self publish/self manage then? It’s challenging times if you are a writer but not a performer. As ever a diversity of income streams gives the best stability. Circumstances have forced creativity on a industry that had become complacent. Independents always had to be creative to make a decent living, and many who would describe themselves as independent were in reality amateur with no idea how to move forward. Their creativity was very limited in scope fell far short of what was needed. These days at least the tools are there if you have the creativity and discipline to harness them.
  13. not at all Richard. My bad. I’ve not been very well (not COVID!), so I still have to update the playlists.
  14. With the upsurge in live-streaming, I thought it might be useful to get an idea of community and general musician live-stream current activities and aspirations. So, please fill out the poll.
