  1. Hello everyone! I would like to introduce myself. I am a songwriter, originally from California, but living in Iowa (USA) now for many years. I am a music lover, for sure, and for that reason writing songs seemed a natural extension of my interests. I am not much of a musician/performer. I play around on the piano and can write a score on the computer that is adequate for an arranger to get the drift of what I am trying to convey. I grew up in a musical family, with both grandmothers piano teachers, and one of them also a cellist. So classical music is in my DNA, as well as jazz, and retro rock (70s and earlier). I am a latecomer to country music, although I appreciate the mature emotional depth that country can unleash. I have also been a fan of serious sacred music and some popular music over the decades, especially musical theater. I started writing songs to put in a series of full-length musicals that I wrote, set in different decades in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. This gave me license to write songs in a variety of genres, for a variety of voices, duets, and ensembles. Many of those songs are stand-alone songs that I have since had recorded. I do not do my own recordings, but instead send my music to a studio in Nashville for arranging, performance, and recording. If you would like to listen to some of my music, here are links to my first two albums containing a variety of genres: pop, country, folk, blues, rock, and jazz.
  2. Hello everyone!  I just noticed I have been away from this forum for 11 years or so.  I have written a lot of music since I first posted here, in a variety of genres including pop, country, rock, folk, blues, jazz, and sacred.  Here are links to some of my albums:

  3. Hi everyone! My name is Clark Ford, and I am a songwriter originally from California, but living in the midwest. I am interested in a wide variety of musical styles, and in learning as much as I can about writing and composing. I have been a lifelong lover of music (classical, rock, jazz, blues, celtic, gospel) but did not write music until this year. I wrote a couple of pieces for church and then this summer I got crazy and wrote a full-length musical -- lyrics, music, and book -- called "1972". My own performance skills are limited which makes it more difficult for my music to be heard. A few of my songs have been performed in church and a staged reading of "1972" was held in October. I have recordings from the "1972" performances and I have also made rough composer demos of my songs and posted them on broadjam.com and some on youtube. I have much to learn about songwriting and composing, and my learning curve so far has been steep! I am ready for a mentor -- someone who connects with the music and can see the "diamond in the rough" in my songs and performances. In my own mind I hear the music, and I like it (which surprises me!). I would like to develop some of the pieces I have already written, and write more, with better arrangements, performances, structure, lyrics, etc! Here is a link to one of the songs from "1972", called "You're Missing Me", sung by Erica Fuchs, piano by Clark Wolf: http://www.broadjam.com/search/songs.php?media=you're%20missing%20me
