  1. I'm glad you liked it because here I found some more!! Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and "other good musicians" - Tulsa Time
  2. this post is just for axe players!! Jeff Beck - Cause we've ended as lovers and this little Dire Straits documentary Brothers in Arms
  3. Hi guys! I've been working on my music, I'm tired but happy, I'm preparing a lot of songs that I should finish in my vacations... anyway, here's one of my favorite Frank Zappa guitar solos: St. Etienne enjoy!!
  4. hmmm... haven't tried that recently since I have a "long term one-on-one" relationship...
  5. that's almost like me!!! I keep it short on the sides and back and long on top...
  6. well, since a year or so I cut my own hair, it's cheap and fast.
  7. One day when I was a kid, I was like 14 or so... my father took me to the shaver for a haircut, he left me there and went to do his stuff, the girl asked me how I wanted my haircut and showed me some magazines to look at guys hairdues, so I said: "shave my head", she said: does your father allow that? and I said yes. She started shaving my head from the back, and when half of my head was bald my father came back and looked at me with surprise, he said you wanna gather some attention and get noticed? then he looked at the girl and said, how much is it, leave him like that. So next day at school everybody was looking at me like I was a freak... Hey this my post number 1000!!! do I get something with it?
  8. ahhh... Jim Hall... his playing is so unique!!! thanks for that one Steve. I found this clip with him, Michel Petrucciani and Wayne Shorter, nice. Michel Petrucciani [Power Of Three [With Jim Hall, Wayne Shorter] and here is one sax player that I like a lot: Mr. Jan Garbarek. His works with Keith Jarret are very good, but the album I like best is one with violinist L. Shankar called "Song for Everyone" that featured also Trilok Gurtu and Zakir Hussain!!!. and here is Zakir Hussain playing with John Mclaughlin: If you're just going to click on one link of this post, click on tis one:
  9. Trilok Gurtu can (and did) play with anybody, he's great. here's a great clip with: John McLaughlin, LaBeque Duo and Trilok Gurtu Johnny "Guitar" Watson also did some recordings with Zappa, you can find him singing "Andy" on the "One Size Fits All" album... but here he his with his big hit. Johnny "Guitar" Watson-Aint That A Bitch (live!!) does anybody play Bach better than Glen Gould? Bach - Art of fugue - Contrapunctus 1 - Glenn Gould and one curiosity, Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" is based on Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2 what an easy way to make music!!!
  10. I used to avoid any sticker in my case, I just had some dots painted with silver spray paint, but now I even have stickers in my guitar body!!! thanks to my daughter... the ones on the case are (from left to right) a "Solid Steel" sticker that came when I bought a couple of Cinematic Orchestra cd's from Ninja Tune, a "Blue Steel" sticker from a Dean Markley strings set, an eye and a nose (used to be a face!) from my wife's childhood, one old Beatles sticker given to me as a gift from a friend, and an EBow sticker that obviously came with an EBow... the ones from the guitar body were placed there one evening playing with my daughter, I don't know where she got them, probably from a stickers book. I did some writing on them to mark the switch and pot positions.
  11. you guys gotta see this: Ravi Shankar explaining the use of tabla. the problem with Vai is that he's always trying to show his chops, IMHO he should quit rock'n'roll and do other kind of music for a while, somehow he is stuck in his "guitar hero" personality he's a very talented guy, another Zappa alumni. The Brecker Bros. played in the Zappa band a few days in New York, the result of those dates is the Zappa in New York album, both brothers played long solos, but only Michael kept my ear. I also have a recording of a whole show, which is great because there's a lot of things that Zappa did live that never were released... now guys like me spend hours listening to recordings done with a portable mono cassette recorder and a re-recorded tape I love Ralph Towner's work with Oregon, their "45th Parallel" album is a masterpiece!!! with another tabla master, Trilok Gurtu.
  12. yes, that Xavier Rudd is really good!! hey Lazz, I really enjoyed the Jaco tune, what did Toots said to him to make him laugh at the end? don't you agree with me that Michael Brecker has more "melody-phrasing sense" than Randy? Steps Ahead - Oops 1986 (with Mike Stern on guitar). This is one of the few Steve Vai tunes that I like: Steve Vai - Tender Surrender Don't you think that Maceo Parker is the true king of funk? Maceo & Fred Live in Slovakia '95 and look!! Shakti in 1975!!! featuring John Mclaughlin, Zakir Hussain and L. Shankar.
  13. they are really incredible singers, but too "soft" for my taste, they should sing Zappa's "Illinois enema bandit"... well, I found a soul version of Maria Muldaur - I'm A Woman
  14. and one of the modern masters: Pat Metheny with the Metropole Orchestra - Minuano
  15. great catch Steve!! another great Jazz guitar player: Wes Montgomery - Impressions
  16. I think you're right about the bass, she's from ecuatorial guinea, but came to Spain with her parents very young. A very moving interpretation of that tune.
  17. I liked "Nuclear Confusion", you sound a bit like Roger Waters at some points! it's kind of an Alan Parsons tune. Nice.
  18. I did a listening to "follow" and "Nuclear Confusion" with my headphones and yes, it sounds a bit like you said. Maybe you can try to use less reverb on each instrument and add a little general reverb to the whole mix, experiment with that. Try not to add much reverb to the low end of the mix, you can use an eq ahead of the reverb to avoid that.
  19. hey Lazz that was great, really inspiring music as always with Hermeto. here you have one thing that you'll love (actually not from youtube). Concha Buika - Mi Niña Lola
  20. I was looking for a mu-tron bi-phase clone and found a really cheap software version from www.audiodamage.com, also they have this vintage fuzz clone for free!!!.
  21. seems like every weekend I post some videos that I find on YouTube, so I thought about making one topic to gather all of them and also it would be nice if anybody can post here more music videos... here's what I found today: Richard Bona w/ Bobby McFerrin a very sutil and soft impro with Bobby on vocals and Richard on Bass and vocals.
  22. Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen would never ever be in my list, even if the list goes for 1000 people...
