  1. Thats an interesting snippit! I think though that some of us (UpMetal Crew) are a bit far behind in the gear stakes. And therefore on a different playing field to some of you lot up there in the stadium. Not that thats an excuse, I think we probably all have the means to produce something half decent. As a guitar player (formerly know as 'Who's that dickead on the end) I would love to have somebody else do my mixing. I just dont hear half of whats I should, and therefore tend to chuck it out as it is! The only real instrument I have is my guitar, everything else comes out of my soundcards as midi. Although I am trying to make an effort with soft synths, it is a bit like learning a foriegn language .... And I was crap at that at school as well! ( Im still trying to learn English)
  2. Huh !! You're only sayin that cause your the Forum Admin.. I say we should put it to the vote! All those in favour of Monaural, dont do anything... All those in favour of monophonic, please write to the Hutton inquiry stating why you think Britain should withdraw from the European Union. (In 12 words or less) Sod it ... Im gonna keep playing in Bi-directional
  3. I still think it's the metronome thats out! ANd all the music I listen to is perfectly in time! Funny you should mention them! I am at this very moment indulging myself with a blast of Images and Words. Most satisfactory.
  4. No.. Not me mate. As I mentioned earlier, I've played along to the metronone and it definately speeds up and slows down..... :
  5. Ha ha ha ..... We guitarists know what we're on about....
  6. Thanks Dude. I'll give it a whack (soon as I can figure out how to do it) ??
  7. You dont want to be listening to that stuff! You want some good old Led Zep guitar music.....
  8. I was listening to a live track by a band called Olgu the other day. It was just a guitar and female vocal. It was a really slow, haunting, beautiful track. So Beautiful in fact that I immediately played it again! To my surprise, I thought I had skipped to the wrong track because the tempo had changed so much! The Point Im trying to make here is , it's nice to have that human touch. Im not saying drummers go out of time What Im saying is, Drum machines don't go out of time. On a few of my songs I have played along to the metronome for the entire track with the bass and snare drums, and the bass guitar as well. (on the keyboard) Just to try and get that human feel. Of course if the sounds you use are crap to start with, then you may be p*ss*ng up the wrong tree anyway?!!! These posts are in response to the dastardly insinuation that I only post one liners.
  9. I did mean nobs... OK as our resident synthy person, would you say that the new breed of softsynths are as good as hardware? Better? Worse? What ? I would like to get into soft synths a bit more, but it all seams a bit complicated and Im not sure Ive got enough power with my present setup (1ghz Athlon 512mb ram)
  10. Strange name for a bass player~
  11. Listen mate! Im on my third wife.. What do I know about pleasing women? :
  12. Push off Dude...... Hang on? You're a guitarist! (So Im told)
  13. Hey Dude A friend of mine bought a VS880. We did quite a few tracks on that. It was all a bit complicated for me, but eventually Phil mastered it! The quality was equal to anytyhing we later did with the PC. If you are interested, it may be for sale? (I would have to check that first mind you) Personaly I prefer the visual presence of the PC. You can actualy see what you're doing wrong.....Give me a bell and we'll talk.
  14. Ha ha ha I consider an instument to be like a piece of music. Good music is around for a long time. I've had my guitar for over 25 years... How about your thing? (Scoll down to see what it was called) jx10... I expect there'll be a new one out next week with better nobs or a new sound..... that will be out of date in another 6 months.
  15. errr... Being the BB God, we're all looking to you for guidance on this John. So... Over to you.
  16. When I played Bass, I used my H&H guitar amp, through a 4X12 cab! It was a great sound! And a friend of mine who played a Ricky used a bass cab with 4X10" speakers in although I have to say that was a little too topy for my liking. I have heard basses played through various combinations of speakers and amps although I think the amp is slightly less important in the setup than the cab. I think your mate needs to trawl through a few music emporiums and plug his beasty into a few things.
  17. Yeah? At least my Gibbo has a proper name... Les Paul..
  18. Er.. I've been trying to use it in Sonar as a DXi plug in (vsti) There are no menus for setup. I imagine it should just work! I cant try it at the mo cause I've just had to format my hard drive and it takes me a week to get everything back on there (being a guitarist)
  19. Er scuse me tosh! Where can I plug me guitar in?.... This is the right room innit? [move]Sample this!!!
  20. H I think the soundsite is gone the way of UpMetal! I havent been able to connect for weeks... Im off to Hammersound to see if there's any info there. I'll get back to you.
  21. I'll take it. How much? and will you take one of my cheques? (only been used twice before)
  22. More info please H. I cant believe they fit into the same hole!
  23. Thats not as crazy as it sounds! I recently read about something very similar. An Amp in an enclosed box with a mic shoved in there too. Maybe I'll investigate further...
  24. er... yes... OK I've got the demo of NI Absynth.... And I can't get any noise out of it! What am I doing wrong? All the patches are there and everything... Help...!!!
  25. That's exactly what Im doing! You must be one of them sidekicks
