  1. Try removing the mic from the trumpet and putting some air between the two. Also you could try plugging in the other mic and placing that a small distance away, then record the two inputs on seperate channels, and mixing the signals.

Waddya mean "Have Fun!" slike bein' bac at scool....
  3. Les Andrew Who? I hear you say... My next door neighbour. When I was 15, he let me borrow his classical guitar while he buggered off to college. It was the worst pile of wood you could ever imagine! The body was split right the way around in a spiral, so the whole thing would have a bellows effect. The strings were about an inch away from the fretboard, so playing a bar chord was virtually impossible, and the strings were so old and dull it was like listening to a cow pat! Plus I'm pretty sure the G string had broken at one time and been tied in a knot! I loved it!!!! LES ANDREW. The biggest influence on me...
  4. What a little mine of information you are Dave...
  5. I wonder if the old addage "You get what you pay for!" applies here? In my case, that was not the case. I bought an MAudio Delta 66 soundcard. (It came with Gigastudio, thus the question about samplers!) Unfortunately, this card didn't work with my VIA chipset, sounded like bacon frying. Another 2 months wasted... Now I have a Yamaha sw1000xg and a SB Audigy. I have to say I cant hear much difference between these two cards, but I have listened to a Delta 66 on another puter, and it sounded superb!
  6. I've just discovered a neat little trick! I was strumming away on my accoustic guitar, trying to get a half decent recording but failing miserably. So I picked up the Les Paul, and played that D.I. whilst recording the sound of the plec on the strings with the mic. I'm very pleased with the result and I daresay my next 20 songs will be recorded in this way until I grow tired of it!
  7. Rubbish! Everybody in Finnlandia is very wealthy! It must be all those Euros flying about...
  8. Thats some serious sh*t going on over there, Im just listening to the news here. Is it really weather related? And can we get a good sample from it..... Thanks Bongstuff..
  9. Close enough. See you in about 10 hours...
  10. I would just like to point out that that was my 100th post.....
  11. OK whats the best way to record a guitar? I have my Les Paul plugged into the Boss GT5, direct into the soundcard. And Im not very happy with it! I cant seem to to get any oomphhh! out of it. If I use my old H.H amp, It's very noisy and hissy and and a real bugger for the neighbours at 11 Oclock at night. So what's the answer.? Is there another way?
  12. Hey John where are you based? Cos if it's anywhere near me (Torquay England) I think you should let me come round and use all your gear.....
  13. Was being a smartass on your wishl list? :

yeah.. and that'll be the one that makes royalties for the next 40 years
  16. Hi Tom If your'e looking for budget gear take a look at some of the latsest Behringer desks. I use a Behronger Eurorack UB802. It's an ultra low noise, 8 input 2 buss mixer with premium mic preamp. Basicaly, it's a 4 channel mixer about the width of a computer case! Mine cost around £60 ($80) As it's just me and my guitar and mic going through it, I find it does a stonking job...... Now I just have to learn how to record and mix ... : check it out yourself http://www.behringer.com/02_products/prodi...=UB802〈=eng
  17. Me neither! I still cant find anybody around who wants to play any original music! And I'm getting on a bit now at 47, almost past it...... :. I think bass players that break strings must play with hack saws as plectrums....
  18. OK... For us guitar playing old farts out here who dont understand this stuff. What is a sampler? I remember going to my local music store way back and coming accross a keyboard that would record a 1 second sample of your voice or anything really! Then you could play it back on the keyboard. BUT... From what I can see now, samplers dont sample anymore! they just use samples. Is that right? or am I on the wrong track here? :

  20. My wish list would be most of the above.....
  21. I have to say... I've used CAL files quite a lot. There are some really useful ones about. Sometimes it can be easier to use a CAL than using more traditional methods...
  22. I'm still not sure about this whole loop thing. I can only concentrate in a linear fashion. Besides which, all the drum loops I've listened to are dreadful sounding mushy affairs. I have been messing around with the computer music free stuff. But even that sounds a bit dodgy... I guess I'll stick with what I've got for now... Steve
  23. A seven string guitar? Which end would the seventh string be?
  24. I once played bass in a couple of bands and I used both. SOmetimes you just cant get the right sound with your fingers, too mellow not enough attack.
