Hello everyone, I stumbled across this site out of curiosity to see how other people go about writing songs as I've just finished writing my second 'whole' song. I first bought a guitar six years ago but it was a shoddy replica and so i didnt really play it that much. Inspiration and motivation to get a good guitar and learn to play came from two areas, 1) 'discovering' metallica, i'm in awe of hetfields guitar playing 2) a means to help get over my ex (its been massively succesful), i find it to be a great outlet for whatever mood i'm in and i'm very happy with the progress i've made in the last six months. I'm currently writing for a misfits/weezerish style band with my mate and i've written a couple of songs which are just me on my own with an acoustic guitar. Having seen so many of my friends play in bands and write so much music over the years I'm proud of myself for managing to do it myself, I once thought you needed natural talent, and some people may have that but I've learned that you can get there with practice, patience and passion. Enough rambling anyway, hello to you all and I look forward to many future discussions!
