I haven't been involved in music for a few years when I lost the mojo!  Recently though I am wanting to excersise my creativity and want to focus on words as a lyricist.  Maybe get into composing again some time but for now it's going to be the wordy stuff.

Thanks guys. I will browse a bit before I start the crit - that doesn't come naturally though. I tend to speak up if i like something and ignore it if I don't.

There's help for you asab, to get better at critiquing via links at the top of the Lyric forum, plus search for them

 

Why do we push critiquing so much? Because it's the best teacher for you to improve your lyrics. The better you are at seeing things in others work (meter, rhyme scheme etc), the better your own lyrics become

 

That means not just saying "I like it", it means helping the writer to improve on what 'they' can't see , whether you like it or not !!

 

Plus, the more you give back - the more you will receive - it's a "win-win" situation all round
