To Love On

TO LOVE ON 

 

memories of a kiss 

distilled through years

we are left in flux; becoming invisible  

 

willing to standby waiting- thought we knew

being ignored no explanation of-

careless to a fault- ready to move away or to love on

 

we fall-accepting this blame

here and there-going nowhere

caught up in emotional down draft

 

we live as if-

only to flutter like petals from a deflowered bloom-consumed or diminished

we fade into the elements neither sun nor moon

 

yet from out of the blue

a miracle or two is found-we gather them selfish

these crumbs one by one food for the soul

 

turn around- and we smile frozen

through pictures of glass- time stands still

unfazed by finger prints or coffee stains

 

looking back-we now recall  

what cannot be recalled -through similar pain

that left us with scars-declaring we were there

 

then as the years become a timepiece to remind

a reflection redeemed- aged hand takes aged hand

hurt will rise up to the ceiling- it disperses in a last bid to move on
