standing by the Christmas tree

head full of memories

of how Christmas used to be

when i was a boy

 

mum would  always wear 

mistletoe in her hair

kissing everybody  there

when i was a boy

 

where did the years all go

when did i get old

i still remember though

when i was a boy

 

fairy on the Christmas tree

if you would grant one wish to me

if only,  in Scotland when I was young Christmas was not celebrated as such , my parents worked on Christmas day then had new years day off that is why new year is (was) such a big thing in Scotland.
