I see me

Looking back at me

Made up or honest

As I wish to turn the key

I see me

Through folded, yellow leaves

Amused some but amazed more

At how far life has taken me

I see me

A beckon from foggy seams

With laces of wonder and worry

Of a life yet to begin

I see me

From within me

Smiling, as I remember

That the key is still with me

Hey Sreyashi,

I'm not a poet, but here is my 10 cents.

It reads to me as if the first verse is a person looking retrospectively on his life.

As he hit a turn sign.

Then the second verse feels like old age,

And the third like childhood, or being born.

And the last verse is the safe feeling of knowing everything will be alright.

Just because you remember all you managed to overcome through life.

If that is the case...

I would suggest to replace verse 3 and 2 order in the poem, for chronological reasons.

And perhaps, a verse to describe adulthood?

I enjoyed your poem very much,

Thank you

Hey Leo,

Thanks for your read and comment.

Well, if I had to break it down (which is a little difficult to do but I'll try), I use the idea of "reflection" as an allegory for the present (1st para), the past (2nd para), the future (3rd para) and self-awakening (4th para).

That's about as specific as I can get :)

I like to write poems once in a while... not sure how proficient I am at them... but I like dumping some of those scribblings here :)
