Yes, even as The Beatles were setting new standards for "bands which would actually never-again tour," they remained sensitive to what actual-consumers at that time would actually-hear, when DeeJays put their precious albums onto the platters late-at-night.

 

Do your very best mix, then look-to-your-left at the local supermarket checkout.  Buy the cheapest cell-phone on the rack and don't bother to activate it:  use it only as a music device.  Yes, grab those wretched ear-buds from the same display.  Now, go back to your studio and listen to that.

Some engineers mix with studio monitors, but use an open-designed pair of headphones if you must — many even use both.
