Splitting contest prizes

Hello, would like to get your all's opinion on something. Suppose you had an original song co-written (50-50) with someone years ago. If you were to make a good quality demo of it at your expense and submit it to a songwriting contest (also paying the entrance fees), what would be fair way to split any potential winnings with the co-writer?

50/50, unless there's a written agreement that states otherwise.
