New here, and I'm just starting out producing!

Recommended Posts

Hey all! New to the site here, and new as well to music production!

I've been cooped up more due to the coronavirus situation, and I found myself reaching for the days when music forums were a little more of a thing. (shout out to acidplanet and proboards, if anyone was up to that stuff ten years ago too). Music has always been such a big part of my life, but I never took production seriously as a hobby -- but here I am starting out on remixes! Got myself FL Studio recently and am just starting to put my pen to paper, as it were.

Grew up largely around electronic music (Justice, Squarepusher, Amon Tobin, BT, etc.) and the bands of the indie/folk/blog-rock era (Andrew Bird, The Go! Team, Sigur Ros, etc.), but among other musical interests have really gotten into pop music these past 5-10 years. Hoping to one day be comfortable enough with my production chops that I can work pop tracks with vocalists, rappers, and other lyricists.

Until then, I'm looking forward to drafting remix contest submissions on Metapop and being a part of online music communities like Songstuff. Hoping to learn a lot, and hopefully share some of my input too! Fingers crossed for a day down the road where our global health scare has subsided :wacko::wacko:

Hi Cereal Aisle, nice intro! Glad to have you here. A lot of the members talk about FL Studio and others. You'll fit in great here on the boards because you already know you have to share your input too. We really encourage helping each other on the boards.

I too have been home more due to the health scare. It is changing so many things. I hope it changes the music industry for the better! See you on the boards!

Hi,

Welcome, and nice intro. You will do best here if you help us by filling in a bit more of your profile, what you do, lyricist/singer songwriter/musician/composer/etc., your musical influences, etc. Then comment on other's works, and then post some of your own. Share. That  way all of us get to know each other better without having to come back to the intro.
